The harm of religion is historically evident whereas the presence or absence of gods is not. Ultimately, the continued existence of religion is predicated on the indoctrination of children and suppression of rational thought. Therefore I am against religion but not necessarily against the idea of gods. For all we know gods are computer scientists and we are in their video game.
nice take really. pray for whomever u want up there, but dont ruin life for the rest of people around u. the religion where i live is like a major hooligan soccer group: the bigger, the merrier, but also more troublesome. the prophet of said religion is a bearded pedophile, for context.
The absense of gods is notoriously evident.
Agreed. This is my position, exactly. Although I do consider myself to be an agnostic atheist, I am open to the idea that there may be a god or gods. I just don’t think that it is likely, and so I conduct myself as if there are not. The main point is, l don’t know, and I don’t think it’s possible to ever know for certain. That’s why I qualify my atheism (or maybe nontheism is more accurate) with an “agnostic”. If people were completely honest, I would wager we would find that most of the people in church every week are actually agnostic, but agnostic theists, rather than agnostic atheist
