In today's decision, the CJEU declared Meta/Facebook's GDPR approach largely illegal - similar to noyb's previous litigation before the EDPB leading to a fine of € 390 million.

Meta/Facebook’s approach to GDPR compliance is largely insufficient, according to a new ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union.

“Meta cannot simply bypass the GDPR with some paragraphs in its legal documents. This will mean that Meta has to seek proper consent and cannot use its dominant position to force people to agree to things they don’t want.”

      They’re always active with their own mastodon server & proving (no strings attached) funds for the development (along with some other ActivityPub projects if I’m not mistaken).

      I hadn’t considered that angle as a reason for wanting in on activitypub. That is actually quite devious
