Still fighting with Apple…unfortunately today’s rejection was an invalid one. The reviewer somehow “missed” the entirety of the conversation with the last one, and didn’t realize that everything that was requested had been implemented and resolved…

I’ve submitted a response to that as well as escalated it to an appeal. Hopefully today we will hear something back.

Here are the changes made in this version:

  • Sharing images inside of the image viewer will now download the image to be shared as an image, not as a link
  • Link helper respects the theme and uses the URL keyboard for the link
  • The post viewport should respect keyboard height and fill the remainder of the space
  • Read icon now uses the correct theme/accent color (thanks ktgd)
  • All /c/community links should now work (thanks ktgd)
  • The last account you used is now remembered (thanks jderose)
  • Search will automatically take you to the community or user if you include the @instance
  • All refresh controls will respect the theme (no longer invisible)
  • Added top hour, top six hours, and top twelve hours (I need to add them to defaults, I’ll do that here in a bit)
  • Fixed image save/share not being present in compact mode
  • Made sure that images that are both present in the URL and in the body of the post don’t show up twice
  • Profile reload issues (i.e. if it fails to load) should be fixed
  • Link info not displaying in posts is now fixed
  • Blur respects the current theme
  • Voting on a post in search now reflects that vote
  • Modifications to the profile screen. This will help with load times when all you’re doing is looking at someone’s profile
  • Performance improvements in the feed
  • Performance improvements in comments
  • Collapsing large comment chains no longer causes freeze/crash
  • Performance improvements in profile
  • Performance improvements in inbox

The next update should include post deletion/editing as well as the remainder of the missing items in the inbox. Additionally, we have a much better slider available now for comments/posts voting so we will be implementing that.

Thanks! Happy scrolling!

Hey man I just want to say thanks for all your hardwork. Memmy is so far the best lemmy browser for me.

Really great job. I’m testing out all the new apps and I keep coming back to Memmy! My favorite so far

Bro thank you for all the work you do. This app feels like home after Apollo, and I’m absolutely loving seeing it organically get better day by day, with features I’ve personally requested. What is your preferred method of donation??

Totally not necessary, but I’d you insist there a buy me a coffee

As I am writing this I just noticed I have the link and label options reversed for the link markdown prompts…knock down one bug, create another! 🤣

I’m going to tag on here…

At some point I guess push notifications are going to be a feature request which will need backend infrastructure, as was the cost to Apollo.

I’ll happily pony up on subscriptions if that’s the case.

When Apollo launched the feature it was with the option for lifetime. Don’t do that! Well do do that and I’ll take advantage but one would be betting in the future.

I did the same with Apollo, I bought the lifetime pass but I would do donations every so often too, as long as an app is maintained I have no probs paying for it

He did add new users under the monthly subscriptions, I’m fairly sure he made good money from the app so I wouldn’t feel too bad when he shut the app down the refunds were gonna be like $250k. Besides there was always the option for tips still too.

This is why I’ve brought it up early, this app is off to an amazing start so I’d like to support it and keep it going.

I’m sure he made good money and I did tip occasionally to be fair.

I’m with you on this 100%. If the app is as good as everyone says then monthly subs to drive dev and actually make the dev an income, like Christian did, has to be the way to go. 👍🏻

Gotta say I think Memmy is looking the most promising for iOS. Appreciate you being extremely active and responsive!

Have you thought about reaching out to existing Reddit client developers for collaborations or endorsements to increase user migration? May go a long way

The iOS Reddit app developers I’ve heard from haven’t expressed any interest in Lemmy. Which sucks. Android has Sync and Boost coming to Lemmy.

Our biggest bet was Apollo, but Christian seems more interested in his tamagotchi clone.

Fair enough, I’m sure it pays the bills and then some.

I ditched Apollo for ReddPlanet since I felt like the quality of Apollo suffered once the pixel pals were added.

But Christian said he is taking a break from forum app development. I asked Tony Lupeski of ReddPlanet about Lemmy support and he said maybe, if any Reddit alternatives take off, so at this time I’m taking that as a no.

Most of the other iOS Reddit apps, like Slide and Comet, were abandoned long before this happened.

Main issue for me was the sheer amount of full screen ads in the main app for pixel pals. I was a paying customer, keep your fucking side hustles out of my sight.

I agree. I got that popup every 5 minutes last Christmas. I get that he’s gotta make money, but he had quite a rabid fanbase calling those of us all sorts of colorful names if we said anything about it. Even though this bug made the app completely unusable.

I also was a paying customer, but the fans in the subreddit acted like he bestowed Apollo upon us for free with the goodness of his own heart and how dare we insult His Majesty with (gasp!) bug reports?!?!

I ended up leaving for ReddPlanet, and seeing that one go was sad because Lupeski was an awesome dev.

This is really awesome! Great work.

Given the fact that most of the core feature set is in place, I feel like Memmy could use a week to focus on hardening and failing gracefully when instances are down for a restart, throwing errors during upvoting / commenting / post loading.
