Is there a quick way to see what instances are federated with each other? I know for a while (and maybe still are) beehaw and Lemmy.ml defederated from Lemmy.world. Are they still defederated? Is it worthwhile to post on their communities if those users won’t see it?

Just popping in to say I don’t think lemmy.ml ever defederated from lemmy.world, they just had issues sending info to each other during the really busy weekend due to all the new users. They’re definitely federated now, just checked their instance list at the bottom of the page.

I personally blocked the Beehaw communities I used to be in before they defederated because the only people who’d see and be able to interact with my posts and comments would be other lemmy.world users and it would be like a weird little echo chamber.

No idea if Beehaw will federate again, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see but there’s a lot out there in the mean time. And if you really want to join in Beehaw you can always make an account there.

There’s no matrix to show generally who’s blocked or linked, some smart web developer might create something like that, but for now you have to look at each instance individually through the Instances link bottom of page.

Unfortunately they made an ill advised change to the instances page in this latest version of Lemmy. Before it presented linked instances on the left and blocked instances on the right. Now it’s one giant column separated only by an obscure header. That’s making it difficult to to see if an instance is blocked or linked on a page search. I hope they don’t leave it like that.
