Picard’s annoyance is great as well. I can’t blame Q for trolling him all the time, he makes it too easy!

The mariachi guys in the background are great too … both in the acting and in the real world, they are just laughing at how much they are spreading so much Mexican love

There’s a bit of fridge horror when you consider that Q is creating real, living people from nothing for a quick gag. Or maybe he has a deal with these guys to just teleport them in whenever he wants to harass someone. I like that idea better.

He pulls real people, but erases their memories. It happens to Riker and co. on VOY during the trial of the suicidal Q.

Edit: can’t upload images for some reason, so here’s a linked one.

I remember that episode. The difference, though, is that the mariachi guys just appear and start smiling and playing immediately. Riker was confused when he got teleported in. So they must know what’s going on when they suddenly appear somewhere in space and time in full costume.

To be fair Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem were always high as a kite and it never mattered where or when they played … you could insert them into a Klingon funeral or a Vulcan marriage ceremony and they’d play their music without missing a beat.

I really want for Q to have pulled those guys through time from a 20th century Mexican restaurant in mid performance and sent them right back afterwards. With no context at all.

Miguel: … um Juan? … where are we?

Juan: … just smile and keep playing Miguel or someone might call immigration again.
