I’m a bit confused about if I needed a new account here or I could of used my mastodon account? Can we browse lemmy through mastodon and post? Can we see mastodon posts here?

      I meant from a users point of view? is there a way to combine our usage of lemmy / kbin and mastodon?

        You can add this group @fediverse@kbin.social from Mastodon and see and interact with all the posts. Mastodon doesn’t (of course) have some of the functions, like threading, upvotes/downvote etc, so the experience might not be as good.

        Similarly on Kbin, you can follow people from Mastodon - their posts end up in the Microblog section

        on mastodon you can follow people from lemmy and kbin, yes

        in the searchbox on mastodon search this:

        @coremeltfx

        and you will find your kbin user with the replies and content you wrote. but since mastodon and kbin are different it will not work properly (for example following kbin magazines in mastodon won’t show the content on those magazines)

        But since kbin and lemmy have the same purpose their interoperability is good

        that’s a lemmy.world post seen in kbin

    Technically you can view & interact with kbin & Lemmy from Mastodon and vice versa but Mastodon itself is not really made to display kbin & Lemmy in your Reddit-like fashion. If you want to use kbin or Lemmy then I’d get an account on one of the kbin or Lemmy instances and use one of their frontends to view said content.

    That being said, I can’t seem to see this particular magazine in Mastodon, but I assume if I were to I’d see threads like they were a toot, with replies to it being more toots that reply to the original.

        As a user. They follow the same communication protocol (ActivityPub). You can view and interact with everyone.

        The experience of following Lemmy instances from kbin (and viceversa) is pretty seamless, because they’re built for the same purpose. So following a comunity from a Lemmy instance you’ll see it as any other magazine from kbin.

        I believe, but i’m not sure as i don’t use Kbin -i use Lemmy-, that kbin is developed to give the microblogging experience too, so I guess following from Mastodon -or other Fediverse microblogging app- will also be pretty seamless.

        The experience of following a Lemmy community or a kbin magazine from Mastodon is not great from a viewing and usability standpoint in my opinion. But it’s very possible, some people do it even. I found it pretty uncomfortable and I do not recommend it. That’s why I have a Mastodon account for the microblogging and a Lemmy account for “the threadiverse” (Lemmy/kbin, but i guess Meta has ruined the term now).

        In sum: you can interact, as a user, no code necessary, anything made with ActivityPub. Not only Lemmy, kbin, mastodon, but also Pixelfed and so on. The experience may vary depending on the front-end you use.

        Yes, as a user. If you go into Mastodon and search for Lemmy communities you can typically find them. There’s probably not all of them until a forced federation sync happens, which I’m not familiar enough to do as I also don’t use Mastodon, but technically it should be possible. I talked to someone posting from Mastodon inside of a kbin thread a while ago. They have to adhere to their limitations so their comments might be shorter and have to post multiple ones if they have more to say but it definitely works.

        Kbin itself also supports toots in form of “Microblogs”.

        I also just got my first reply notification again after several weeks. I hope that means that bug is fixed. :S
