Pretty brave releasing DLC for the game in it’s current state.
Didn’t they claim they would fix issues before adding DLC? Or am I thinking of KSP2… or Star field… Or…
They’ve fixed a shit ton of issues
To be fair, Starfield has had a lot of major patches with very long changelogs released before its first DLC comes out, which is still not released and has no release date except “2024.”
No idea about Cities or KSP2 though.
Not to dismiss all the valid criticisms but those poeple working on asset packs are not the same that would be fixing technical errors. Also the announcement includes a mayor performance patch (well see how that goes) and the beginnings of nodding tools. It propably won’t fix everything that’s currently wrong but if like to be proven wrong
Yeah idk with how angry the fans have been I don’t think there’s anything they can do that will make the angry people happy, so they might as well do what they feel is best.
They release fixes but no DLC: Great, so we can play a game and it doesn’t even have modding/dlc support , 6 months too late
They release DLC but fixes aren’t ready: Great so they aren’t prioritizing fixes
Lose/lose for them.
I also don’t think they plan on “fixing” stuff like fans expect. They released this to be a ten-year game. I’ll get downvoted to hell, but they built this to run at 30fps, if they can hit that bar now then I think they’re good. I think too many people are looking at CS:1 through the lens of 10-years of development, with the mods, dlcs, and packs we all love, and forget what it was like when it started - which was remarkably close to this one. It was absolutely fun, but definitely a bit clunky and empty, but it was right off the heels of SimCity 2013 and everyone was desperate for anything better than that, so the bar was at the bottom. To me this feels exactly the same as the original release. It got better over time, and as hardware improved so did the game. But hey, what do I know, I’m just a pleb from the 90s who’s happy playing simulator games at 30fps.
Yeah in the short term there are going to be a lot of lose/lose scenarios for them, but this is the stupid prize for playing stupid games with what they released.
I hope they stock it out, games like No Man’s Sky show both that a developer who cares enough to try can earn back the trust of a player base, and that the process to do so requires a lot of work.
My reaction reading the title: “wat….”
My reaction after 10 seconds of the video: “why are they….”
My reaction after learning about the performance improvements and beginning of mod support: “Why didn’t they just say that part?”
As much as I want this game to improve and succeed…. This ain’t the way chief.
I’ve been waiting for them to fix the base game before I buy it. And they are releasing dlc?
Guess I’m never buying this game…
Multiple teams. The asset team ain’t gonna be fixing bugs.
The base game is quite playable as is. I’m happier with the cities I’m building in CS2 than anything I ever built in CS1, even with a dozen mods and 35 gigs worth of custom assets. It looks way better and the cim behavior is as good or better than CS1 + traffic manager. There are issues with land value, but it really doesn’t impact gameplay that much.
I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I’m honestly baffled by just how negative the reaction to this game has been.
That’s the first positive endorsement I think I’ve heard. Awesome, because I really like the genre and want this game to be successful.
But it’s been very negative press so far and that doesn’t make me want to shell out cash.
Anyone else out there think the game is worth the price of admission yet?
You’d think they would go after a bit good will and release such a meagre dlc for free to make it up to fans.
