I think that you will. Once you have shaved with 10K and 12K synthetic edges, and assuming you like that level of keenness, 8K will likely feel unfinished.
Moving to packing peanut testing last July, and then in September, made a huge difference for me. Now I have a means to tailor keenness consistently and thereby improve my idea of how apex and edge feel varies with different sharpening stone patterns. You’re going to enjoy this rabbit hole.
