First i want to make it clear, that am not here to judge anyone’s intrest nsfw or otherwise, but i am quite perplexed on how the start page looks most times.
I come here for my… Nsfw needs. Sure, I can browse only subscribed communities, but sometimes I like to find pics and communities I didn’t know I would like.
But browsing by local, the feed is often dominated by sfw celeb pics, especially on days were people seem to upload their entire archive, you get only 1-2 nsfw pics per page, no matter what you are sorting by.
Not here to criticise or demand something, just wanted to hear how you feel about this and how you manage this
Personally I’m very liberal with using the block button to get rid of communities I don’t want to see, or posters who are spamming so much stuff that it fills up the NEW sort with just them. I can curate the stuff that I always want to see in the Subscribed section, and then use the Local section for stuff I don’t care about as much but still enjoy seeing & discovering new things.
I honestly really don’t get the appeal of all the celeb content either
The celeb content almost all posted by one user who seems to do a LOT of posting and creating of new communities. Definitely sus, but blocking Madness@lemmynsfw.com may help

Yup, same here. blocked madness and my local feed got better.
Madness is my hero lol. Just block them if you don’t like it.
But yes they should use crosspost. Although I’m not sure what difference that makes as crossposts show up as separate posts in the feed anyway. (Unless you know of a way how to see crossposts only once…)
The annoying thing about the “just block it” answer is that every single a through f list celeb has their own community on lemmynsfw, and those keep bubbling up.
I have to laugh because every time I block one, the same community shows up in the feed, just hosted on a different instance.
I block yiffbanginghentairandpaulforpresident@nsfw.lemmy.whatever & the next day yiffbanginghentairandpaulforpresident@porn.lemmy.potato is right back in the feed.
To each their own, no judgement on who’s posting what, but there is a whole lot of repetitive porn here.
Are you interested in every kind of porn there is? If no, then obviously you subscribe to what you want and block what you don’t want, I don’t see the problem.
My list of sports teams and random cities blocked on my regular home instance is in the hundreds. But I feel like I can finally browse /all without much annoyance.
Yes, I also don’t see the issue. Honestly, every time I log in this account, If I browser local I need to block ~20 communities because I don’t want straight porn in my feed.
It’s mostly one user.
Block them, and it all goes away.
No, I like it, because frankly most Lemmy instances are run by nerds for nerds who not only have no interest in nsfw, but no interest in cute celebs girls either. So this is a great place for it. You can simply block the celebs community (and a few dedicated to specific people) and you won’t see them, it’s not like there’s a thousand of them.

yeah it’s weird, I just blocked all those communities
I’d rather be vocal against AI content.

SFW just does not bother me.
Why?
AI is trained on any images available, without compensating the creators and has a very high energy and resource footprint.
I oppose intellectual property. As for energy and resources, still less than driving a car to the store.
I oppose abusing creators.
Source?
what?
I blocked bot accounts. Those posts disappeared.
What metric do you use to determine if an account is “bot”?
I used the option in settings.
On jerboa, accounts that are flagged by the creator as a bot account have a little robot icon near the username.
No comments, excessive posting, same post in multiple communities and instances are all decent indicators of bots.
You gotta filter stuff for sure, like all the ai content, dicks, hentai, etc etc
Way smaller userbase than reddit so it’s much more varied content, which is good imo.
yeah, and there doesn’t seem to be an option to report users for spam.
I don’t mind it, I quite like non-nude content!
Try using the top 6 hour sorting instead of Hot. When I switched all that celeb stuff disappeared
‘My mountain of free porn isn’t convenient enough’
Celebs have a special appeal. It feels like it’s someone you know, rather than just some rando. But for many, bikini pics and such are the best you can find. It’s a particular taste. So kinda sounds like some kink shaming happening here.
Beyond that, what’s wrong with softcore? Someone can still be sexy and get you going, even if they’re fully clothed. This is a place for collective horniness, not strictly whatever flavor of hardcore you think this whole site is for. I don’t enjoy furries in my feed, but that’s what you get for venturing out of your Subscribed feed
I would say I’m more annoyed by posts like these that have zero nsfw value at all.
This post and others like it can be solved with an already available tool, the block community button.
Don’t make your laziness other people’s problem. Block communities you don’t like and subscribe to one’s to do. My blocked communities list is longer than my subscribed. IMO the work pays off quickly.
