I personally don’t really get how someone reconciles materialism with religion, but why be an obnoxious atheist about it? I’d rather not exclude anyone because of my idealistic worldview; either I’m wrong and religion will exist for as long as humanity does (so what did I accomplish by being a dick about it?) or my way of thinking is correct and people are going to come around to that eventually, once the material conditions are right for people to no longer need religion.

It’s like how everyone’s highschool graduation speech is about how these are the best years of your life. And I’d be sitting there thinking if these were the best years of my life I might as well just minecraft myself right now.

Probably a combination of genetics on my dad’s side and just not having parents that could teach me better. Most people think I’m incredibly patient but it’s just that I don’t know how to let it out so I never really express it but I can get very violent thoughts when I start daydreaming about something bad that happened to me or something bad going on in the world. And I have flashbacks to trauma that can put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day, so sometimes it becomes a negative feedback loop of bad vibes.

I think I’m doing better than I have ever been. Which isn’t saying much, still a lot to work on like my anger issues, but things have been looking up lately.

Yemen and Palestine are the things that bother me. With the Saudis and Israel being trade partners with China I have to wonder how it all goes down even if the US isn’t able to keep propping them up. I guess it’s too idealist to hope for a quick and satisfying victory, seems more like it will be a slow burn to solve complicated negotiations.

What’s going on in Yemen? Is the war ending but in the favor of the Saudis? What’s China’s take on the Houthi and how’s that situation meant to resolve?

Here’s an idea: Learn Chinese, become a CIA spy, learn/steal important info, defect to China the moment you get there and hand over any information you can.

I remember when this was new and a friend refused to watch it because there was no way he could “debunk all of it”. Like, yeah if it’s all a lie then it can all be debunked. I later learned they thought the US brought democracy to Iraq, they used Iraq as a good example of what to do as opposed to China’s treatment of Tibet.

I’m not entirely sure what the devs intended but KotOR 2 gave me some both-sides vibes. On one hand I like that they criticize the Jedi as not being infallible. But it seems like Kreia is a self insert character spouting this libertarian nonsense about how beating a homeless man up or giving him money are equally bad. But then at the end I believe Kreia is shown to be wrong and gets got but the game doesn’t question her worldview aside from that one ending as far as I remember. It’s been a while since I played so I’m curious if someone else has strong opinions regarding it.

Forest Gump by far. It’s a movie that says you can be dumb, and in fact being dumb and not questioning things is a virtue, so long as you do what you’re told and stand for the flag you’ll be rich and successful. But if you try to improve society somewhat or ask questions then you deserve to be beaten and die of cancer.

I’ve found it’s practically the only way to get decent search results. If you try to figure out a technical problem with Google good luck sifting through all the listicles and AI generated adverts. At this point I just add “reddit” to any Google search I make so I can actually get an answer.

I always imagined that if I got drafted I’d pull the pins on a few grenades during the plane ride over.
