5·9 days agoI believe part of the issue is that in addition to the regulatory system being captured, the media has been as well. Sure there are some late night shows poking fun, but major news networks are being bought up one after another.
It’s difficult to organize when half the news pretends this is normal and the other half openly celebrates this degradation of our systems. Unfortunately I fear things will get worse before they get better.

BTW I’m with you that any system can be abused, and it’s that abuse that is the true issue. However capitalism does seem to encourage greed and the consolidation of resources, which has to be actively regulated. It feels like it’s a losing battle as those who accumulate power will try to sidestep or remove any obstacles that prevent them from gaining more power.
I feel like we’re currently seeing some particularly egregious examples currently and I welcome the discussion of other systems because open and unbiased discussion could hopefully lead us somewhere better.

81·27 days agoI think many people forget how many Americans were pro-nazi before we entered the war. Not to mention how it was decades before the civil rights movement. I know this isn’t an American site so it doesn’t pertain to everyone, but there seems to be some type of collective amnesia of the values we had not even 100 years ago.

It’d be nice if there was some type of regulation to prevent all this “dynamic pricing” bullshit. Instead I’m just waiting for it to hit grocery stores, because why not.
