The Conservative Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, is already doing that. I’ve heard his ads on the radio calling for Ontarioans to give him a majority government so he “can stand up to Trump”. The guy spent his time as Premier standing up to nurses and bike lanes. This new stand up against Trump shtick is just more faux populism.
I’ve read this before and my favourite section is the one at the end about how to make an office run inefficiently and it just describes a normal office. Have lots of useless meetings. Work as slow as possible without getting fired. Gossip about your co-workers. Give poor training to new hires. Be irritable and hostile.

Lemmy.world has a lot of users and more users means more downvotes. It also happens to have a lot of news and political communities which attracts a lot of strong opinions.
Personally, I find the only function of downvotes is to discourage contributing and discourse, and that seems antithetical to what this platform is supposed to be about.

tl;dr sticks often use “potentiometers” to track position. They involve electrical contacts that wear out as the stick is moved around. Once they wear out enough, the stick will produce erroneous signals and needs to be replaced. Hall Effect sticks use magnets and track position by measuring changes in the magnetic field. There is no physical contact so the sticks last much longer.

You can create your own community on lemmy.blahaj.zone! There’s nothing preventing you from doing that. Lemmy is designed specifically for this scenario. If you do create one, I’d subscribe to it! It doesn’t matter to me where the content is coming from as long as it’s content I like. I’ll subscribe to a dozen versions of 196. Nothing changes for me.
Instance admins have total control over the communities on their instance. The admin can appoint themselves or anyone else as a moderator and unlock the community, so there’s a chance there will be more posts. If not, that’s fine too! I’m subscribed to a fair amount of communities that are no longer active. It doesn’t change anything as I scroll through my subscription feed!
The reason the mods are leaving is due to an issue where the instance admin would remove comments from this community for breaking the instance rule of Empathy which has the guideline of:
If your comment is designed to hurt someone, this isn’t the space for it.
How is “fuck off” anything but a comment designed to hurt someone?
