I’ve been using Slowroll for a while now switching directly from TW and so far this feels like a better solution for me. I like to be up to date, but I don’t need new features immediately. I actually prefer having the TW userbase live testing new stuff before it’s on my computer ;)

You can import/export the configuration between these apps.
Slowroll is still Tumbleweed, but with a monthly Tumbleweed repository synchronization. The other frequent Slowroll updates are bugfixes and security fixes which are still wanted from using a (slower) rolling release distro. No major version updates or feature updates are included.
So again, Slowroll is still a rolling release, just up to a month slower with new features and software introduction, but yet with frequent updates for security and bug fixes.

In your case Google would be the host/provider of your Gmail e-mail service and gmail.com is the domain name of the Gmail e-mail service.
Having your own domain name would allow you to keep you e-mail address even when switching your e-mail host. Which means you would not have to bother with re-registering you new e-mail address for every service or newsletter again.
yourname@yourdomain.com would always be yours no matter which e-mail provider you choose, IF they support a personal domain.
In my opinion all that you need is a new mail provider/host of your choice and an own domain if you want to make future moving of mail providers easier.
Hosting an own mail server should not be your main focus when making an initial switch away from Gmail.

That’s awesome, I was waiting for this to happen.
The Repo sync of Slowroll is usually around the 10th of each month, so systemd-boot should be available by then. I myself was interested in switching to it manually the other day, but figure out I had to be patient a little more.
