I highly appreciate this policy and wish more Lemmy and Piefed communities had it!

A few years later, when we did Star Trek: Enterprise, the producers wanted a more NASA-like vibe, so I did quite a few emblems for Bob Blackman, our costume designer. Wendy Drapanas, Geoff Mandel, and Alan Kobayashi also contributed some patches.
This listicle says it was Wendy Drapanas but there’s no further explanation.

There are sizeable number of people who don’t like all kinds of things but I don’t make it a habit of pointing it out when I see someone with those things permanently etched onto their skin.

Just a few off the top of my head:
https://github.com/Arcticons-Team/Arcticons - a comprehensive minimalist icon pack
https://github.com/MM2-0/Kvaesitso - A good launcher
https://github.com/CodeWorksCreativeHub/mLauncher - minimalist text based launcher
https://lawnchair.app/ - A FOSS version of the default Pixel launcher

I know it’s not what you’re asking but I think Okuda did the original design

lmao why on Earth would you phrase it like that?!?! Just say nice tattoo!

That’s wild I didn’t know that!

When I tried it I got the feeling it’s more for people looking to backup/archive entire YouTube channels than those (such as myself) basically just having what is functionally an RSS feed of most recent videos released this week (for example).
But like I said, it’s absolutely great at what it does I just found it waaaay too complicated than the simple “use jellyfin as a YouTube app replacement” I was looking for.

Absolutely. The interesting thing to me was the lack of institutional knowledge remaining in the US. For example, finding a machinist based in the US was one of his biggest challenges as most of them have retired. I think he was only able to locate one still in operation that could make the parts he needed.

tubearchivist is great but probably overkill for someone just looking to subscribe and watch with Plex/Jellyfin instead of the YouTube app.

Crazy. I guess they assume they’ve reached peak MAU and are now trying to prevent them from leaving. That and the AI scraping stuff, obv.

Is this a mobile web? I just tested this on desktop and I didn’t get it, but this popup has been around on their mobile web version for a few years now (before I switched to Lemmy, at least).

I haven’t watched this video yet but I heard him talking about this project on a podcast recently and it was really interesting. It’s basically impossible to manufacture something simple (and increasingly often, complex things too) in the US at a competitive price. Yes, he made a “better” grill scrubber completely in the USA, but it costs $60. Yes, it’s totally BIFL but the market for people willing to pay that is probably not sustainable for anyone without the “free” marketing of a popular YouTube channel.

I agree, but the particular Maquis we saw tended to be reactionary and narrow minded. I think it could have been presented as a much better grey area situation like in Journey’s End.

I always felt like they did a pretty poor job of making the audience feel any significant level of sympathy for the Maquis (assuming that was the goal).

AudiobookShelf is great. One of the most polished self hosted apps out there and has a lot of great features that are lesser known (like converting to m4a)

The meme is 2/10 but this comment is 10/10

I love that someone asked you to leave them alone, you were like “actually no means yes”, and you view violating consent as “not taking it up the ass”.
I can’t even find a repo to install it…
