  • That’s the curious thing - reviews stating that the game gets a lot of it right despite the widespread (and, quite possibly, still present in the game itself) liberalism. One player mentioned feeling defenseless as the workers when the capitalists sell everything abroad and gain so many influence dice as to make engaging in elections and policy-making against them pointless, then, following the workers’ attemps at striking, decide to buy abroad as well; his coplayer referred to a two-months-old argument among them about protectionist policies, then asked whether player 1 sees now, taking a simplified model that is the game as an example, that reliance on consumer imports is pretty harmful for the majority of the population in the long run.

  • Played a bit of it (one or two games; was it N2? N3?) a long time ago over VASSAL; at least one game ended with both opponent’s Achilles and my Yu Jing sniper hitting the ground in a stalemate close combat. Not a bad ruleset for a IGOYGO game, although the nesting of special rules (common back then) made it difficult to remember everything relevant to the situation.

Never exactly gave a thorough reading to the background; i do, however, think that dropping both tohaa and the Spiral Corps and releasing a new weirdly-designed line of morat miniatures while the previous ones barely aged was strange, to say the least.

And Ariadna for some reason including at once the USAmericans, Russians, and the French (Canadians?) is less and less believable with every new day.
