  • Good stuff. I love how it’s grown and look forward to seeing more voices discuss the issues that arise.

I’m working on growing !greater_sudbury@lemmy.ca myself, and have tried to limit to 1 or 2 posts per day, just to keep them coming and leave openings for other locals to step in, but without the same kind of response.

Perhaps I’m the one that needs to take on a more aggressive seeding technique…

I don’t have an issue (I was replying to the previous post), especially as I do see value in seeding a community with posts. An empty community is a dead community.

However, it may be of more benefit to spread them out. After all, this is all federated. So anyone following the community from elsewhere (my prior reply was from a Mastodon account), they will receive a big wall of posts from this community all at once, but if they were to log in later in the day, they would see nothing (as it all posted earlier).

It would also allow other people to post something themselves and start a conversation in the post, as opposed to just an unexamined link.

Some might also see it as an attempt at spamming or karma farming (even though that no longer translates). Perhaps those thoughts may be something to consider.

  • Atletico Ottawa (Canadian Premier League), followed by Tottenham Hotspur.

Rumours are pretty strong that I’m about to get a local club in League2 Ontario, so they’ll end up taking over the #1 spot in my support & knocking the other teams down a spot.

I realize Canadian soccer is going to be exceptionally niche here, so I’ll give a quick layout for the majority of people who are completely unfamiliar.

    For men’s soccer:

The top of the USA “Pyramid” is Major League Soccer, which has 3 franchises in Canada.

The Canadian “Pyramid” has the Canadian Premier League as our 1st division, and no 2nd division (plans are for CanPL to split at 16-teams). Our 3rd division is a series of separate leagues under the League1 Canada label (Ligue1 Quebec, League1 Atlantic, League1 Alberta, League1 BC, League1 Ontario). Starting in 2024, League1 Ontario is splitting into 3 leagues (L1O Premier, L1O Championship, and L2O) with promotion & relegation. Below that are various youth/amateur leagues.

    For women’s soccer:

League1 Canada has women’s teams as well. They also occupy the 3rd division position.

    A pro-division (Project 8) is currently being developed for a 2025 launch.

How our national women’s team has remained so competitive, is something of a mystery.

  • I have two small kids. I break the spaghetti like this so I don’t have to cut up their plates or clean sauce off the ceiling, again…

It works and it makes it easier to portion on plates & prevent my spouse & I from overheating.

In a couple years, when my kids are bigger, hopefully I can return to cooking without snapping…
