That’s true. A forseeable future can only be deduced what we have already seen, and as we have not seen such a society yet, and have no data on it, who’s to say?

It’s not even about foresight per se. It’s about a very simple question. Let’s assume taht we even are in the primary stages of socialism, which means some vestiges of capitalism are still residing in all of us, and as such, also crime. What do you do with criminals, thiefs, etc.? Reeducation through labour of course, or in other words - prison. Only when the material and superstructural causes for crime to be commited are gone, and as such, crime withers away, only then can prisons be done away with. So don’t hit me with “future is less forseeable” as if it were some mystical thing, instead of a question that can be worked out scientifically/logically.

Prison abolition is not viable in the forseeable future.

I am just worried that it is a change of social relations that cannot be “rolled back” without another violent revolution.

Umm what? Do you thunk that decollectivizing agriculture and reintroducing markets and labour-as-commodity is a step TOWARDS socialism? The productive forces have been expanded enormously but when do we start seeing the class distinctions being abolished onstead of bolstered year-on-year?

I always reccomend this routine for people who want to get into running:

We run 3 times a week with a day of rest after running. Always start with a warmup stretch and a slow run to warmup for 5-7 minutes then:

1st week: 3x 5mins run at full capacity 5 mins walk; 3x 5mins run 3 mins walk; 3x 5min run 1min walk;

2nd week; 3x 7mins run 5mins walk; 3x7/3; 3x7/1

3rd week; 3x10/5, 3x10/3; 3x10/1

Congratulations, you can now run at a slow pace non-stop! From now do a 1-1,5hr run once a week and 30-50minutes run 2-3 times a week. Focus on slowly improving your speed. That’s it!

At high school, it was during Philosophy classes that I was looking for “edgy” philosophy to “debunk” the liberals and found Strinerism appealing (though to be honest, jn the hindsight, I did not understand a single thing of it). Then I mingled with some metalheads of the “trve” sort that mainly listen to 1st and 2nd wave of black metal and epic heavy metal (Tank, Omen, Ostrogoth etc.) and they were hailing at events to which if someone took notice it was reduced to “its just a joke bro, chill out” but was really a quiet admiration of Hitler. At the same tome I held infantile leftist believes that “we should be equal”, “people should have homes” etc, while also not being partial to for example listening to bands like M8L8TH or some Rock-Against-Communism.

Edgy “Stirnerite” (due to vibes) at 16, left-wing fascist sympathizer at 18-19 (due to environment), typical socdem till 23, Marxist-Leninist at 24 and going. To be honest my radicalization came from watching a theatre performance that said “mortgaged credit = 30 years of serfdom” and then joining a local communist org.

Stop romanticizing your despair. You are not a martyr, and you are not ‘evil’, that framing is a convenient escape hatch. Calling yourself scum lets you off the hook because it declares you irredeemable before you’ve even tried. That isn’t humility, it’s narcissistic fatalism. The global oppressed don’t care about your American guilt complex, they care about whether you’re useful.

‘No organizing potential?’ That’s lazy defeatism dressed up as realism. The US has millions of exploited workers, tenants facing eviction, and queer kids losing rights. The potential is there, buried under the same rubble you’re too tired to lift. Did you expect the masses to deliver themselves to your doorstep? The vanguard isn’t handed out, it’s forged in the exact exhaustion you’re feeling right now. If you can’t do grand strategy, do logistics. If you can’t do logistics, do mutual aid. If you can’t do that, then your only job today is to survive and show up tomorrow. That is a tactical order, not a request.

I am not going to coddle you. But I will tell you a hard truth: checking out is the ruling class’s favorite outcome for radical Americans. They want you dead or paralyzed. Staying alive and doing one tedious, miserable task today is an act of war against them. So stop spiraling about your inherent evil, that is a bourgeois luxury problem, and start thinking about your next tactical move. Eat a meal. Make a help-line call. Send an email to them. Just don’t confuse self-pity with political analysis. Get up. Not for the party not the cause, but because lying down is exactly what the Empire wants you to do.

Then you take care of the particular (the problem stopping you from action) before the universal (the action). Get medicated, find support networks, call helplines as much as you can, journal, and remember that material conditions predecede any form of conciousness - so you will not get better if you don’t get up. Set up the smallest goals. Do not think about achieveing them. Instead of “getting better” think of what personal material conditions you can change, so you are better. Remember Marx from the 18th Brumaire: “Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past.” Your position is still materially different than that of an Indonesian sweatshop slave. You can and should make the best of it.
