TEKUMS@lemmy.cato Games@lemmy.world•What's your favorite game you never hear anybody talk about?English7·2 years agoNoclip did a doc about it recently (https://youtu.be/GtNvEna6bxc). I remember seeing it for the first time at a buddies place growing up, but I didn’t have a strong enough computer to run it. I did though when black and white 2 came out and it was awesome! I feel the only thing comparable to it currently is the Anno series, no spells or anything but just city management and stuff.
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato Games@lemmy.world•What's your favorite game you never hear anybody talk about?English7·2 years agoI feel that when it first came out all my podcasts that I was listening to at the time were talking about it for at least 6 months. It really got its hooks into me and I also come back to it occasionally as well.
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Do you have any games that you like but you never finished?2·2 years agoI found that I really had to put all other games aside and focus on it.
I actually started by playing the first two games before starting 3 and that really helped me focus on just playing 3 because at that point I was super invested. 1 and 2 are both pretty short games (compared to 3) but super different from each other so if you want to give that a try it might be worth it.
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Do you have any games that you like but you never finished?3·2 years agoI got like 40 hours into MGSV and I just got burnt out on it. I feel that going back I would probably have a better time but the first time I was obsessively doing the side missions and it just killed it for me.
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Do you have any games that you like but you never finished?4·2 years agoYeah, the same thing happened to me. I was taking my pace but it took me so long to get anything done that eventually it just fizzled out for me. I don’t think I made it half way through the story and at this point I don’t think I can go back and play it because it seems like such a chore.
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato Gaming@beehaw.org•Steam Next Fest wraps up today, what did you play?English1·2 years agoI really enjoyed Shadow Gambit’s integration of save scumming into the gameplay loop. Took me a minute to realise that the bell ringing wasn’t auto saving but letting you know you could make another save but after that I really enjoyed it. Super curious to see how the different characters interact with eachother!
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato World News@beehaw.org•Missing Titan submersible is operated by a cheap game controller6·2 years agoThe more I hear about this the more I’m shocked that this death trap was allowed to operate at all! It seems on the level of that bear suit guy, super dyi energy but with no real use case.
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato Reddit Migration@kbin.social•Reddit's CEO's Response Is What No Leader Should Ever Do0·2 years agoI doubt he would listen to anyone, and it seems like there was no plan at all to conceal the fact that they just wanted to kill all the apps and push users to the official one.
This whole lie about ‘we only want to make money on people using our data for AI’ is bullshit and they know it, they could have easily locked down the API and then charged different rates for different companies depending on their intended use. But lumping it all in the same cost structure let’s them get away with killing apps entirely.
From what I remember it that is true, he let another developer give it a shot since he had no interest/experience in IOS development. Maybe he’ll do it again and a more dedicated developer will be able to complete the port this time.
Hopefully, even though it’s smaller, it feels more connected. I think that’s what I was missing from the outer worlds, it just felt so did jointed. I should Go back and give it another go though.
Yeah that’s the only thing on the list that I could see a possible improvement in performance in. I’m waiting on a good price for an x3d and I’m coming from an 5600x. Outside of that there won’t be much of an improvement anywhere.
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Microsoft promises Starfield has “fewest bugs” of any Bethesda game1·2 years agolol I’ll wait and see, but ‘fewest bugs’ in a Bethesda game isn’t exactly inspiring confidence the way they probably assumed it would.
Very curious if this is enough of an engine overhaul to make it a little bit more stable in general.
Suuuper curious to see how this turns out. I didn’t get through The Outer Worlds, something about it lacked the draw of exploration for me and it felt like a smaller more linear game. Hopefully this will be more like Oblivion/Skyrim with the world being more connected.
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato Canada@lemmy.ca•Canadian schools are experimenting with cellphone bans, but some parents say the devices are lifelinesEnglish6·2 years agoUnderstandable, but I doubt much bullying is happening during class time, where I feel that having cellphones put away would be the most beneficial. Several times I’ve been asked to put my cellphones in pouches that set off alarms when opened during small comedy shows/concerts, I feel that might be an alright solution to in class device lock down. Then when the class is over phone can come out.
In terms of bullying I think that’s more a failure of the education system that these students don’t have someone to turn to, in the faculty, to deal with it. It sucks because I couldn’t imagine what bullying is like now in the digital age. I always felt that teachers and admins never got enough power to deal with severe bullying without blow back from parents.
TEKUMS@lemmy.cato Canada@lemmy.ca•Canadian schools are experimenting with cellphone bans, but some parents say the devices are lifelinesEnglish8·2 years agoI’m surprised that this wasn’t something that was already implemented. When I was in highschool in the early 2000’s cellphones would be instantly taken away if they were spotted by a teacher during class.
I don’t understand parents needing constant contact with their children. As a kid I would’ve hated that, helicopter parenting x1000.
The characters seem to still being doing that Bethesda thing where they just stand in attention at you and stare you down lol.
Really curious to see how the combat actually feels and if there will be a V.A.T.S. like system, I know that’s something that a lot of people like and the combat is this game looks a lot faster than any combat in a Bethesda game before. So it could turn some people off who aren’t a big fan of fast paced combat but really enjoy Bethesda stories and worlds.
I wonder if these will also be affected my the sales as well. Might be worth holding out until the next big steam sale to see.
