  • Are you sure?

Or is it more about dispelling it?

Even just the preceding omitted portion of the line that you replied to on the same line as (~ lol. oh boy), showed:

This is no concern to those who can steer minds of masses.

This is vastly distinct from how when I was “Just Doing My Job”[TM], and the intent would be to have you completely oblivious to ploys afoot, and to have you believe without question, just presume as normal, all the associations we’d be implanting without your awareness, to shift your perceptions, your preferences, your prejudices, and of course, ultimately, your purchases.

It’s the difference between Penn&Teller showing you not only there is a trick, but how it’s being done to you [or at least, so goes the pedagogical aspiration], and a conman not even pretending to be a magician, just tricking you out of your wealth, and having you be so tricked, you’re even thankful for it. A really effective conman, an advertiser, who was really “good” at their job, may even manage to have you attack anyone who tries to get you out of the con, because they got you so identified with it, any critique, any questioning, gets seen as an existential threat.

The ignorance that dies, is not you.

^Is a great line to help remember, and to return to curiosity any time slipping to a place where different perspectives seem threatening and in need of being attacked again.

It’s an ongoing “eternal vigilance” kind of thing, here in a sea of misinformation, where everybody’s a shill.

So, yeah. I’m ex-advertiser, in so far as I’ve utterly relinquished any aspect of a career in it, since that first (and last) TV advert, that while I was making, I watched a Bill Hicks VHS over and over (the one with that “anybody here work in advertising or marketing” bit I linked above), wearing it out to snow, getting maybe a dozen doses a day of that bit. But not at all deluded to think that’s it. It’s a constant presence… that miasma that we’re all swimming in, that normalises the hard sell, the con, the grift, … the convincing. Now, I mmmmmuch much much more prefer the idea we all get epistemologically astute, wise to the con. It’s easier to con, than to de-con. But ever worth striving for a world where people are honest, can spot tricks and psychological maladies, and can even then offer remedies… and then we can expedite mending this world, far easier, without the total abandon to corruption as is and have been for too long.

    One point,

    When do we riot?

    Riot?

    That’s the solution?

I thought that was the problem they attempt to provoke in some of us to have more of us react in favour of their solution of more police, and better armed police, and more unaccountable police, and more rules and censorship.

There are more of us than them

This is no concern to those who can steer minds of masses. [Speaking as an ex-“one of those”.]

    How

Know anyone in the compartmentalised super secret special projects groups who have access to the emancipatory technology that would obsolete the enshitifying fake economy and all the manufactured scarcity and dependence on rentiers abusing us at expense of the healthiness of the environment, if released, and who could let that genie out of the bottle, eliminating the economic duress that impedes freedom, restoring each our ability to be worldly astute polymaths in the making, rather than slaves in training? Know anyone like that? Maybe they could help expedite mends. If you do not know that you know anyone like that, you could just meditate, and emit that kind of radical loving bold kindness, perchance that works, like the Chicago experiment (where meditators supposedly managed to produce a marked reduction in crime in the city), and through some kind of morphic resonance or psychic entrainment or quantum entanglement or luck or whatever, maybe those in the positions of power, will pick up that wave shape of goodness aimed at them, and it will cut through the loud chorus of most else aiming judgements at them that only reaffirm our worst fears about what they’re like.

… Could work. At least as one easy ongoing part of a broader approach.

Maybe helping people stop being poisoned by mercury (madness), aluminium (apathy), fluoride (incompetence that has you eager to obey authority), excitotoxins (lowered cognitive fidelity, more stubborn and emotionally volatile), and so on, may help nudge things in an easier direction mendwards. May even push past some healthy tipping points… that may even help us sublimate from kali yuga to satya yuga. Many eyes make all bugs shallow.

Best part… No matter how dire any prognosis, defy it. Defy the dire prognosis. We can still mend this.

    It’s just a ride…

  • “Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need … ‘roads’.” -Dr Emmett Brown

It’s been over 20 years since I heard about how industry had suppressed innovation. …How before cars and planes, we had balloons. And not only balloons, but some were innovating with the new marvels of electromagnetism, experimenting with high voltage faraday cages and things, finding ways to meddle with inertia, even to cancel out inertia… And once you have that, you’re only 1 step away from a rudimentary spaceship, if you’d only make an enclosure suited to being in vacuum. And indeed the development of such technology did continue. … I heard, back then, 20 years ago, that even by the 1930s, we could have had spaceships for everybody. And certainly now, and for many decades, … zero inertia propulsion. Zero-point energy. Can sustain human life indefinitely. Safe enough for a 2 year old to fly home. Can print another of itself instantly. … Such exists. By human innovation. ~ Unless of course it was all a cleverly constructed deception. … But considering the “cui bono” of it, especially in contrast to the “be very affraid, there are aliens” rap we get hit with, and the reports going around of grand plans of global domination enabled by a series of problem-reaction-solution manufactured catastrophes… It just seems silly to presume it more likely the narrative that gets pushed heavily in the corporate media. The narrative that has us disempowered, and dependent on big daddy government. Rather than, 1 in 10,000 humans can innovate something that supports the rest of us… If only the corporation would stop killing off the innovators.

The sacrifices we’ve all made, to have “cars”.

… They don’t even make it easy to fuel them with anything even remotely more clean and empowering, let alone the more advanced stuff.

    Enshitification.

And now people are being denied the right to repair them too.

How much more environmental burden will that artificially accelerated churn for “profits” [wealth extraction maximisation] cause?

How long, how much worse, before we manage to break free of this, and restore VTOL, to eliminate the excessive footprint of roads on the planet…? …Maybe there are blessings in disguise here… But I really do like the idea of allowing habitats to reconnect, eliminating the death gauntlet between them, no longer mowing down wildlife and terrorising it away, whilst simultaneously freeing humanity to travel freely.

How about a third column to the sticker on the lamp post… Things drivers have sacrificed for the Corporation. …That might get even the selfish to rethink. Because I’m not sure the selfish narcissistic apaths would be swayed at all by their “win” of having sacrificed nothing for the children. But if maybe they saw how much they’ve been deprived off… Like the monkey in the cage seeing the monkey in the next cage get more fruit than they got, they throw an absolute raging fit at the injustice. If only we all knew how much the Agnotology Industry has taken from us…

From 2004-2008, I lost count how many tall spools of CD/DVD I tried, before I moved to USB pendrives for my distro surfing and distro hopping, for 2008-2012, and even more lost track how many many many more done ephemerally so, leaving no trace.

in 2012, I found a way I did not need to wrestle the compromises to try to find “the one”, and embraced the many, with bedrocklinux’s 2nd alpha release, and stopped all the rabid distro-hopping.

    But…

Me on my way to distro hop for the 72th time

… Never needed be the corporate psycho though. You distro-hop differently to how I distro-hop. To me, it’s a joy of exploration. To you, it’s an inconvenient strategic means to power. We are not the same. ;)

    Also… I’d say “72nd”.

    Edit:

Okay… I’m going to try answer this a 2nd time, in similar style as how others answered.

    Suse > Sabayon > Crunchbang & Gentoo > Bedrock

Suse and Sabayon were basically my homebases from which I distro-surfed (1000s? 100s of distros). … Though that didn’t stop them getting hopped from and back to several times in each their aprox 4 years tenure.

I suppose I should at least make it this much more accurate, to give Devuan its due too.

    2003 Suse > 2007 Sabayon > 2009 Crunchbang (on thinkpad) & 2010 Gentoo (on workstation) > 2012 Bedrock > 2018 Devuan > 2020 Bedrock

And all the spray of others don’t get a mention. n_n

Almost never used systemd. Did not like the exceptions.

It’s nice that on gentoo (and decent gentoo respins), you can choose. It’s not leaning on you, with the “we don’t support”, the impression it has to be either systemd, or anything but systemd, respective of which camp that distro is in. But still, it is nicer to be in one of the distros that [purport to offer “init-freedom” but really] do “anything but systemd”, for the range of choice and freedom that affords, contrast to the dogma of the one true way that all must follow. Systemd! Systemd! Systemd! Come, join the cult! Hehe. But, no, more choice is better. … And not just a choice of which one true way (as in whatever the distro tries to decide for you), but choice within that distro too.

Okies… Let me just wipe the mouth froth away, and come to my senses again, out of that little gentoo gushing rant… What was this comment about again? Oh right… which distros… Yeah, answered. Now I’m just in overkill, burying the lede again, as pre usual. Meep.

  • How does one get through to those who’ve blinded themselves by wrapping their heads in the notion that Musk’s their strongman hero to save them, the fact that he’s a puppet icon being used to distract you and continue the maximisation of “profit” (aka wealth extraction maximisation). … That he used Nikola Tesla’s name… Tesla… who wanted to power the world for free, in health affirming frequencies… and now Musk uses his name to extract wealth from people, disempower them, deceive them… ~ Ough… I’m gonna skip this rant for once, and go live a little.

Maybe more people will see the system’s rigged dozens of ways. … Can keep that tenuous hope going, defiantly.
