Hi there ! If your i5 gen10 can only handle one 4k transcode, you might want to double check if your hardware acceleration parameters are correctly set ^^
My home server runs on a small Intel N100, a 4k transcode eats up 30% of the CPU at most. I checked, it can transcode 3 streams without any lag, up to 4 transcodings if nothing else is eating the cpu. I’m not using Plex though, I got Jellyfin. I don’t know how Plex handles things.
Both are a good as entry points ! But from what I have experimented with my friend and family that are also transitioning to Linux, Mint (Cinnamon version) is the best entry point you could dream of. They took the best from Debian and Ubuntu (not snaps obviously :p), and their desktop environment (Cinnamon) really does a great job at making you feel at home from the start when coming from Windows. Everything works out of the box.

Yes ! I don’t get why debian always seems to be forgotten outside of its server use. I have been running it for 2 years now (homelab, laptop and desktop).
And FYI Marine Le Pen has just been sentenced to a (surprisingly low) fine and a year wearing an electronic tag a few days ago because of her mutiple European embezzlement.
And guess what, judges also sentenced her to an interdiction to present herself to any elections, but said sentence ends before actual French presidential elections in 2027. I’m so mad at this.
Maybe you’re right, but I also think the difference is due to how the EU is trying to justify this : they say their IR camera will help lower phone use while driving.
It’s very hard to use the same rhetoric against motorcycles, because you actually always need both hands to drive, making phone use far more hard and risky than with a car.
And anyway, most motorbike crashes aren’t due to inattention but mostly overspeed, which an IR camera won’t help to deal with.
For me, it’s mainly due to the global enshittification of the social networks I was using.
Lemmy is my first try with a fediverse network and I have to admit I love it. After only a few days of use my feed is so good that I already deleted Reddit :')
And also, the fact that Lemmy is not controlled by a single authority makes it even more satisfying to use.
