cope for american AI corps is at an all time high
op is a repost bot btw

reading comprehension is indeed at an all time low lol

whatever works for you! no need to do stuff just for the sake of it and its already great youre exploring nix

very weird they (1st linked repo) include Immich as having “AI functionality” and said functionality is face recognition and other features unrelated to LLMs
I wonder how much this sort of effort against AI is harming the contrarian vision of stopping it then helping, because we look stupid blindly hating anything to do with a neural network
the problem I have is the reductionist take that any project should be deemed ‘tainted’ if it has a permissive AI policy such as “use whatever you want but you’ll be banned if its slop”
there are great arguments against LLMs, as they are today, to not exist, which I strongly agree.
it doesn’t mean the best course of action is to target FOSS projects for tolerating its use, deeming them tainted for it, given they are not contributing to LLM’s existence. thinking WE, as users or developers of said projects, are perpetuating the cycle of abuse is shifting blame from the massive corporations actually pushing all of it.
it feels the same like with “carbon offset” ideas, where the concept of global warming is framed as “if only we do our part by buying from this carbon-neutral brand we will save everyone!” whereas the absolute majority of worldwide carbon emissions are from corporations and not individuals, and said framing only serves to mask that fact
AI should be regulated 'til oblivion, but can we not point fingers at each other and actually focus the discussion on the real pushers?? because saying that, for instance, Immich, an actually great project built by people for people, is “tainted” because LLM contribs are “ok” and has facial recognition is absolutely stupid because it deflects so hard from the actual people fucking us over

impermanence forces you to be intentional with your system, where files are persisted, which is great for: hygiene like feeling like the computer was freshly formatted on each boot; using NixOS as intended by keeping things declarative (in other words, “nixmaxxing”); security also, to a lesser extent tbh, but it’d be protecting against malware nesting at impermanent paths

As a student, it was extremely annoying to browse through subjects and find what I needed to do. Really had a bad time with their UX.

Oh God why are all your replies in the same structure, am I talking to an LLM? I can’t decide whether that would be preferrable or not
i thought russian propaganda was better than that
or is it 4d chess to make us believe they’re that stupid?

I was forced to endure it for some time in the past. Would not wish it for my worst enemy to use Moodle

Hey, sure. I’m doing all kinds of gymnastics to think the ones profiting off our public data are in the wrong, I’m just in it to fit in and be in the crowd sure! Whatever makes you feel different. Hope your mirror works someday.

Give me a crystal ball next time and I’ll do it genius, use your common sense.
Seems fitting the one thinking about “the crowd” the most is exactly the one trying to be the most distant from it. Projecting much are we?

Sure. Let’s see if they use it for endeavours in the same spirit.
Or are you fine with they using this data for-profit without benefitting the public by also making it open?
(not talking about hf, I know starcoder. just in general)

its the class war dude watch adam neely’s video

folks make bullshit rules that are self-reinforcing
that is depressing

instances talk to each other and dont exist in a vacuum. defederation is a last resort

destructive integration tests?!?!?!?!?!? on an actual db???
do it!! steal their shit!
