  • Mostly not too bad. It’s pretty clever how they hide a bunch of the wiring under the tea house. You have to kind of braid a bunch of it and shove it under a little lego hide along with the connection board. That was tricky. I made my daughter do the braiding.

This is the second set I’ve done a light kit for (the first was the Daily Bugle set. Talk about jumping into the deep end…) so I kind of knew how the wiring worked with the bricks at this point. The instructions were pretty good and the wiring was pretty good as well. It didn’t come with a power source and it wants a usb power source instead of a battery pack or something, but I had some old usb power blocks running around, so that was fine.

  • Got in a play of Tiger and Dragon and Cosmoctopus.

Tiger and Dragon is a larger box game from Oink Games. I like the slightly puzzly nature of this one and playing with the tiles.

Cosmoctopus is gonna take a couple more plays before I get a good opinion of it. The table presence is fun, but I almost can’t imagine a world in which I don’t always play the “fast” game and just start everyone with 3 tentacles. This thing seems like it runs long. We definitely had a couple questions about the rules as we were going through.

  • It’s finicky stuff for sure. And the texture is odd. Apparently there are a few different kinds, some glow better than others, and they’re all a little weird. Some are more plastic like. This glows pretty well (it’s brighter in person than in the photo) but it also fades kinda quick.
