  • I’m making a generous assumption by suggesting that “ready” is even possible

To be honest it feels more and more like this is simply not possible, especially regarding the chatbots. Under those are LLMs, which are built by training neural networks, and for the pudding to stick there absolutely needs to have this emergent magic going on where sense spontaneously generates. Because any entity lining up words into sentences will charm unsuspecting folks horribly efficiently, it’s easy to be fooled into believing it’s happened. But whenever in a moment of despair I try and get Copilot to do any sort of task, it becomes abundantly clear it’s unable to reliably respect any form of requirement or directive. It just regurgitates some word soup loosely connected to whatever I’m rambling about. LLMs have been shoehorned into an ill-fitted use case. Its sole proven usefulness so far is fraud.

  • Oh no! Venture capital has moved to AI! (Anyways.) The article goes on to talk about humongous corporations making dubious decisions and toppling over themselves. Are we supposed to lament Ubisoft’s demise now?

Expedition 33 just came out of nowhere to great acclaim. Valve is hosting a thriving market & slowly but surely freeing PC gaming from Microsoft’s grip. SILK SONG IS DUE THIS YEAR MY FRIENDS. Everyone’s wishlist is as long as their backlog. The bar to entry for development has never been lower. Video gaming is an established medium at this point. A handful of corporative giants infected with a rotten management culture matters little. What essentially matters to me is for the creators out of a job to find new footing.

  • Hello! I’m Québécois and as such happily defy all Canadian obligations. The USA gave the elections to the liberals by threatening Canada’s sovereignty. This is because the Conservatives favour the prairies, where there is a strong pro USA sentiment. Alberta’s PM Danielle Smith reminded everybody of that by conniving at Mar-a-Lago while the other provinces were trying hard to show a united front. In the meanwhile Conservative Leader Poilievre took forever to address the issue since he knew part of his base actually wants to be ’murican.

So by now Carney is PM for sure, but it’s not been called yet if it’ll be a minority or majority. I’m not excited about having a paragon of neoliberalism as federal leader (still better than Poilievre *sigh*) so I’m hoping for a minority.
