Did you know openBSD does not have this folder? I think the BSD’s do not use /proc. I do not know why though.

8·2 天前I mean what can’t run NetBSD? I feel like we should start writing drivers in rumpkernels instead of writing drivers for our OS’s.

9·3 天前It is interesting because we are getting a popular web browser on Mac to gnulinux. I am not a big fan of it though because it is nonfree.
You can’t really decrappify browsers without first decrappifying the web.
I agree with this point a 100%. Wish something like Gemini would succeed (Gemini the protocol, not the google bot). The web is so bloated and “unprivate” if that is a word.

As the creator of the GNU Hurd community, I approve. Prepare everyone’s old thinkpads or old dell laptops, and prepare some Ethernet cables.
I kinda agree with him as an artist. It makes me sad to see people generate art with ai when they could’ve made a noobie drawing that will still be far much better than the ai one. Ai art can be so weird as well.
I do not understand the joke.
I played SuperTuxKart before. Is pepper a mascot somewhere, or is it a character for SuperTuxKart?
GNU screen I am assuming? Or is this ratpoison? Whatever this is, I am in love with it.
Edit: I see it is tmux. Why does the fastfetch show xfwm4?

1·5 天前Yeah it sucks that google coined the name after their ai chatbot. The first thing that comes to everyone when they hear the name gemini is that bot.

4·5 天前Gemini is probably going to go the way of the Hurd sadly, IMO. It is a niche that only privacy enthusiasts and FOSS enthusiasts wish to succeed. The Hurd is doing pretty good for how little people are working on it. If anyone is interested checkout my community, which is centered around the GNU Hurd.

81·6 天前This is a concern I have as well. Normies are getting into Linux, or should I say GNU/Linux, without understanding the core concepts of Software Freedom. I feel Linux is has been ready a long time ago, but now Linux is more compatible with nonfree software. That is not really a positive thing. But atleast we are making a FLOSS OS more mainstream.

11·6 天前It could be, but it’s now in the hands of the same evil corporations that made some guys start GNU and shit.
GNU was started because of a broken printer. Jokes aside, RMS got upset that the company that manufactured the printer could not give the source code for him to modify it to make the printer better. That is when he founded the gnu project and the fsf.
Idk why your comment has the most upvotes. I will give an upvote to you anyways.
BSD actually heavily inspired crux, arch, and gentoo. The aur and portage were inspired by BSD ports. Now of course, I do not know which BSD did the inspiration.

2·8 天前I will check out more of your content. OpenBSD is a cool OS. What is your opinion on desktop OpenBSD?
Friend of Luke smith I see.

I might be mistaken, but I think kvm stands for kernel virtual machine. Having no /proc, and interacting with sysctl instead sounds more secure, IMO.
