I would assume that people in a similar demographics are interested in similar topics. Adjusting the answer to a person within a demographic would therefore adjust it to all people within that demographic and interested in that specific topic.

Or maybe it’s just the nature of the answer being more personal that makes it more appealing to people in general, no matter their background.

Of course, if you live in the woods in the middle of nowhere a bike won’t get you far in winter, but neither gets you a car until the snowplow has come through and dug you out. Skis are much more useful in these conditions.

I’ve lived in the North and commuted by bike except for days with extreme weather conditions. And again, you shouldn’t be driving then either. Now that I’m a bit older I’d go for an electric bike though, I think.

I drive a regular city bike, nothing fancy, just studded tires. I’m talking about Norway here, so studded tires are the norm in winter for almost any vehicle. I prefer biking especially in winter because of the amount of cars stuck on the roads. With the bike I’m flexible, I can drive around obstacles or impasses, worst case lift it over a ditch to make my way somewhere else. On an average day I’m at least twice as fast biking than I would be driving.

While I agree with the sentiment, the decision to remove these maintainers seems to have been purely legally based. It stands to reason that the Linux foundation will follow and remove sanctioned Israeli maintainers if they end up on a list of sanctioned companies/people.

Your words, not mine. If they were afraid of malicious code coming from these sources they would’ve removed them earlier and not only after their legal department recommend these maintainers be removed.

Agreed. The important difference here is that in these cases they do not serve in their form as a (military) force. They have no more authority in these situations than a random citizen already performing said tasks. Performing policing duties, they inherently have power and authority.

Wahrscheinlich werden im einfachsten Fall die Apps nicht mehr in Europa in den entsprechenden Stores angeboten, nächste Stufe wäre dann wahrscheinlich geoblocking der Nutzer basierend auf der ungefähren Position nach IP oder sogar Sperrung der Kontos. Wenn nur die Apps im Store nicht mehr verfügbar sind kann man zumindest unter Android die APK runterladen und selbst installieren, gegen Geoblocking hilft nur ein VPN.
