I know not everyone has this luxury but remote work has really helped give some time back in my day. Between the flexible schedule and just napping when I feel like it, I have more time in the evening to play games again. Not everyday but a few times a week at least.

“Cancel culture” is a bit of a loaded term and so the replies to you have been somewhat charged. Most people view the situations public figures find them in as just the necessary consequences of their actions. And like you, I agree that each situation should warrant a measured response from individuals based on the severity of the issue. It’s okay to not want to support people you don’t agree with, especially when the reason is agregious or harmful to others. The issue then is that everyone uses the same cudgel in the same manner for every crime regardless of severity.
But sure, if you don’t want to support someone for even the smallest of infractions, that’s your right. No one can take that from you. I may not agree but I support your right to do so. My only wish is that we at least give pause to think about the high bar for acceptable behavior we’re putting on public figures. I am as much for accountability as the next person, but I also think we’re humans capable of mistakes and capable of change. And right now, I don’t think a culture of grace is necessarily present online. We don’t have to tolerate hate or harm, but we can leave room for redemption. Maybe I’m being naive, I don’t know. But that’s my take.

I have a strange fear of being engaged by trolls. The thought alone is exhausting. I may or may not take the bait but the possibility of wasting my time on a useless argument means I’m hesitant to post. Not sure if anyone else has felt like this.
I started using reddit around the whole Digg debacle. What’s that been? 13 years? Something like that. I preferred Sync and since that’s gone, I didn’t feel like being strong armed into using their dog shit app. So… Here I am.
I’m not sure how recently you’ve used it but I actually find chrome to be much more resource hungry. Maybe it’s worth a try again if you haven’t?
Then what about ads by default but you can pay to remove it? I think it’s important to think about the cost structure of these “free” spaces so that they have the proper support for longevity. That being said, I feel Wikipedia is a fine example of how we could also do it, donations with some transparency on what’s needed to keep things running. But iono, I’m pretty ignorant about the true cost of running something like lemmy at scale.
Just started Dave the Diver, about 15 hours in. It has a fair bit of content and the “mini games” don’t feel too out of place.
Also felt the itch to spin up a new minecraft mod pack instance, so I started feed the factory, a mod pack inspired by factorio. Encourages you to build big systems in bulk with rows and rows of massive machines. Very satisfying. I also hate dealing with mobs, and the mod pack is basically in peaceful mode, focusing primarily on building, so it’s right up my alley.
It says in the wiki article that they became Israeli citizens. What are you on about?
