I haven’t made hash browns since I learned how to make latkes, but it’s still just a salt n pepper kinda situation. Some recipes say to cook hash browns in clarified butter. I imagine that’s pretty flavorful too.

One tip I have for hash browns (or latkes) is to use a potato ricer to remove water from the shredded potatoes. This is easier, faster, and more effective than the dishtowel method.
