    Walter Rodney’s How Europe Underdeveloped Africa was especially enlightening for me. His other works, along with Frantz Fanon’s body of work, are essential reading imo

      Neo-colonialism by Fanon Nkrumah is a great book! I really need to get around to reading the rest of his body of work.

      Edit: I mixed up authors. I’d read Wretched of the Earth by Fanon. Neo-colonialism was Kwame Nkrumah who also did some great work.

    John Smith - Imperialism in the 21st century. At least for imperialism in it’s modern incarnation. Some other books:

    • Settlers
    • an indigenous peoples history of the US.
    • killing hope
    • the black jacobins
    • galeano - open veins of latin america
    • losurdo - liberalism, a counter history
