a weird side effect of the marginally more tolerant of non-exclusively heterosexual orientation is that, as a guy, I get 1000% more solicitations for me to check out some random guy’s trout or just a straight up dick pic as a conversation opener. as a guy that sometimes struggles with making opening small talk, it’s a counter-intuitive strategem I can’t imagine making sense.
I don’t respond and just block/ignore, but a older (mid 40s) lady friend of mine–who has been putting up with it for longer–has this move where she saves it and randomly sends back a different one from her collection, like as a “cool, check out this one” response. and apparently it has a 100% record for terminating the conversation immediately while also amusing her.

at every single company he has ever worked for he has been propositioned by married “straight” men he works with because they tend to travel together. every damned job.
