According to the European Union’s climate agency, 2024 is also the first year to breach the 1.5 degree Celsius climate threshold.

Every year has been the hottest for the past I think decade though, I have my doubts that this will ever change.

No, “on record” means a year that we have recorded. The year 700 BCE is not “on record”, but 1970 CE is.

While the author of the comment was trying to imply that it could get worse, actually they are correct in the other direction. Meaning that if the weather turns cooler (like from a volcanic eruption which releases a lot of particles into the upper atmosphere), then it will no longer be the hottest year.

Right, that we have recorded so far, since we can’t possibly have records for anything in the future. That’s why I said the “so far” is implied.

Semantics I know, just something that slightly bothered me. :)

That sounds about right. July was the hottest I’ve ever experienced. It was a month of heatwaves. It sucked lol. Not to mention, all the forest fire smoke, so you couldn’t run AC without smoking yourself out. It was “great”.

ACs have filters though? The filters are also replaceable, and sometimes you can get a better grade filter (advertised for people like hayfever sufferers). I would look into it before next summer…

My issue was how my portable AC unit is set up in the window

The solution I have ends up letting air into the room from the outside, which isn’t ideal for numerous reasons.

I’ll have to see if there’s something better that I can use, but so far, this has seemed like the best way.
