You mean like how the ‘democracies’ invaded Fascist Italy shortly after the March on Rome?
Oh, wait…
Another Hearts of Iron general.
Glad to see they are a deleted account because that is the dumbest prediction they could’ve made. While I am not going to act as an expert, based on how Europe was after WWI there is no way any country would have done anything had the coup succeeded. Europe was so devastated post-war they would not have been ready to invade Germany just because of a coup. At best they would’ve done appeasement which is something that actually happened after Hitler took power in the 30s.
They were willing to invade Russia (albeit with small forces) to stop the communists. They would certainly not go that far for the fascists.
Exactly. The common consensus at the time was that the Communists were the main enemy, even when fascism was on the rise the liberal democracies sided with them because the communists were seen as a bigger threat. No way would they waste their resources on stopping a fascist coup, those were their allies.
ah yes, the famous ‘democratic’ (fascist) regime of Pilsudski
France: Wracked by 4 years of intense trench warfare, devastated countryside, massive losses, exhausted military and nearing bankruptcy. Political upheaval caused the country to change government 20 times in 21 years from 1918 to 1939.
Poland and Czechoslovakia: Newly-formed states with similar problems to France (though a bit more stable politically) and large German minorities with strong nationalist sentiment near the borders with Germany.
Meanwhile, the entirety of Europe experiences a massive anti-war sentiment, which is partly what lead to appeasement to fascist Germany, before WW2, being so acceptable.
