Yeh those sliding type battery covers, I find those pretty irresistible myself. Knew it was a bad idea and likely breaking the remote before its time when I had those but sometimes it was almost unconscious and I’d just find myself removing the cover and sliding it back on without even realising. The ADHD is strong I guess. I haven’t had a TV whose remote had that style of battery cover for a long time luckily. The current one just isn’t even remotely :) satisfying to remove the cover and put it back on again so it’s safe from me.
so fidget spinner should have been fidget slider clicker
I have so many fidgets and always go back to pens and household items
That’s how I broke my remotes battery cover :)
My partner wore out the clips on the cover by doing that all the time
Then the cover slides off all the time. Then you end up having to tape it shut and get a messy sticky remote with tape residue. Or the cover falls off and gets lost
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I had to put one of those rubber condoms over my remote because I did that, and because I didn’t stop after it broke.
All remotes get taped shut eventually because of broken clips. No more fidgeting.
I just have the batteries taped in because I lost the cover :(
Got my remote taped because every time it falls the cover flies off with the batteries.
Many years ago, I did that. On the TV remote, the blu ray player remote, the sound system remote, the bedroom TV remote, the guest room TV remotes.
Looking back, I get why my parents where annoyed. Maybe they should have brought me to someone that could’ve diagnosed my add.
Now, I live in a household devoid of remotes.
Fidget spinners before fidget spinners were invented
I feel so seen
I feel called out
is that something people do?
So long as there are absolutely no follow up questions: yes, it is.
How’s your day?
How dare you.
I’m glad I found your comment! This thread had me questioning my sanity - I have never, in my 50+ years on this Earth, encountered this phenomenon!
Yep… because unmedicated ADD.
You don’t need ADD to like the clickety sound and feeling.
But it helps!
My latest TV has usb-c and solar to recharge the batteries.
… but…but… it feeeela so good to do it.
I like to pretend my remote is a spaceship. The battery cover is the gangplank thingy; obviously I have to open it when the remote lands.
Joke’s on you! My remote has a pin that needs to be pushed in like the SIM tray on cellphones, there’s no opening it without something to push that in every time!
You can, as long as I don’t have to hear it.
