Explain to me what TikTok did that was harmful. Explain to me how they used the data for malicious purposes. Also explain to me how US based companies like Meta, Google, Amazon, etc. aren’t doing the same thing and actually provide that information to the police to develop the surveillance and police state here. What’s China going to do with our data, sell it to AliExpress to make us treats?

The US officially recognizes the One China Rule, that Taiwan is a province in China, the PRC is the legitimate government of China, and that China and Taiwan should resolve their differences peacefully, which is the point of the One China Rule. Despite this, the US has funded $44 billion and created various military exchange programs for “Taiwan’s defense”, and China opposes this as obviously we don’t have a good track record with not funding and attacking foreign countries for our own gain. US wants to start a war with China because its hegemony is crumbling, and they want to keep the rich in power and not work toward a system where the workers benefit from universal healthcare, affording housing, etc.

China doesn’t want to attack Taiwan. The US is provoking them and trying to turn Taiwan into its own vassal and stop China from completing its Belt and Road Initiative which would develop the Global South’s economies and make them independent and protected from Western colonialism/neocolonialism/imperialism and IMF debt loans. As countries are moving away from the US dollar, our own economy is suffering because our government refuses to stop being a demonic imperialist entity that wants to rule over the world and not allow a multipolar world where different countries can work and trade together mutually and peacefully, which would lead to workers running the government and building an economy that benefits humanity’s well being.

Only china can control that no one else. I understand dealing with US is like making a deal with the devil when it comes to geopolitical issues. Chinas preparation and growth of their military says otherwise tho.

China can’t control the US setting up military infrastructure in its own province which threatens its own existence and national security. What if China started developing military opposition in Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, or California? Wouldn’t the US lose their shit and see it as a threat to its own existence? Then why is it fair that we are doing the same in Taiwan?

So stop trading with us and punish us with sanctions or is the $$$ more important? Thats what it all comes down too always.

The US is the one sanctioning China and hurting its own economy. China is responding to those sanctions, but they would rather work peacefully and encourage mutual trade with us. But the US doesn’t want its own citizens to benefit from China’s affordable electric vehicles because US’s own car manufacturers would have to lower their own overinflated prices.

Pretty sure the US military already have their own internal rules against using foreign apps. As for average citizens, you really think China’s going to send a CCP agent over to assassinate Joe Smoe in Wisconsin for saying mean things to China?

ohh thank god there are internal rules! Everyone follows the rules right? that’s why some idiot shared sensitive information on a Discord channel not too long ago. The concept is called “Zero Trust” its very popular in the cyber security field. It means what it says do not trust the user to follow internal rules. Banning TikTok = Zero Trust and the correct thing to do. Taiwan must remain a free country and we should not give China even an inch.

If you think it’s US security interest to enact sweeping bans you are welcome to believe that as far as I’m concerned, but you don’t get to have it both ways and also go on about “free country” nonsense in same paragraph. Pick one and own up to it.

What I’m on about is that you don’t get to yap about freedom while simultaneously advocating for sweeping bans that apply to all citizens in a completely undemocratic manner. Whether the app sucks or is dangerous is completely besides the point.

Silencing would mean banning all social media. You are still free to join another social media app and can even talk shit about trump with no censorship. I get to yap!
