    Congratulations Germany, you did well.

Tesla sales are down 59% for January Year Over Year, and EV sales are up 50% for January also compare to last year. And the marketshare is stated to have dropped from 14% to 4%. That means that Tesla marketshare dropped a whopping 73% !!!
Looking from the other side, it means that Tesla only has just above a fourth (27%) marketshare left, declining almost 3 fourths in JUST ONE YEAR!!! That’s absolutely insane and normally unheard of losses for a major brand.

one factor behind Tesla’s sales decline in Germany could be that consumers were waiting for the upgraded Y model

I seriously doubt the new model will make much difference, it may help Tesla a little, but the truth is Tesla aren’t really better than the competition anymore, facelift or not. Here in Denmark VW group thoroughly beat Tesla on EV sales for the year 2024. So no doubt Tesla is already in steep decline in many places. From what we know right now, sales of Tesla are in steep decline in Germany, France, Norway and Denmark.

Only UK is known to have only moderate decline, but they probably think it’s independence for UK to buy Tesla, because fuck Europe for some reason???

That’s a strange comment to make and I doubt it has anything to do with the EU.

Any UK EV car review I watch, the Tesla comes out on top. The issue with EV’s is public charging and Tesla’s charging network is a big reason people go with Tesla’s. They also tend to have the longest range and retain their value longer. Company cars are also favouring EV’s to make themselves look better and once again the Tesla is the recommended vehicle by the leasing company. Why? Because of the charging network.

The other obvious one is the UK public consumes a lot of US media and social media and therefore is now heavily influenced by the US.

Charging is not a problem for non Tesla cars in UK, you just need to be registered with about 7 apps on your phone. 😜
Here Tesla is no longer reviewed as a top car, except the price/range ratio is very good with model 3.
2 of the top reviewed in 2024 are the new KIA E3 and Renault Scenic Etech. But that is not at all reflected in sales for some reason.
For many reviewers the Skoda Enyaq 80 iV. was the shit a few of years ago, and it is still almost universally praised, and the newer Enyaq 85 is even better. I don’t see Tesla having anything even close.
If I had more money, I’d be looking at the BMW i4.

Tesla cars are flawed safety wise by design, and have documented poor safety. I’m not sure they should even be legal here!!!

It’s more likely to be political apathy with the Brits. Most of us don’t seem to get and/or bother about politics…also only around 25% of the country were dense enough to vote for Brexit.

Yeah you are probably right, as the saying goes: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
But then again, Brexit was mostly about xenophobia, which is both.
So I suspect it’s more that the 2 go together.

I’d say you’re a bit right also. People here love Trump and Musk also, but maybe not the same people.

As a final point, I fucking hate Brexit…”one small step for Europe, one giant leap backwards for Great Britain”.

Yeah it’s like when people from UK ask if there aren’t any benefits? Oh yes there is, not as many as there are drawbacks, and unfortunately the benefits are all on the EU side. 😋
Ah well, the Brits are still our friends, where would we be if it hadn’t been for Monty Python? I suppose formal cooperation will be build up again over time, like we have with Norway. But it would have been better if Brexit had never happened, and that’s on both sides IMO.
AfD in Germany also love Musk now that he has expressed support for them. There are idiots everywhere.
