This is gonna make licking DJT’s boot a little bittersweet for Modi because the opposition parties are gonna call them spineless.

It is realpolitik to be sure. But there is a genuine alignment of interests too. I don’t know the BJP camp internally views Trump but the kind of austere pro-business economy BJP wants to cultivate is in line with the vision that America wants third world countries to have. BJP and the Indian bourgeoisie want nothing more than to sell the country, her resources and people to western capitalists for a handsome profit. This has proven to be difficult mainly because it turns out that if you invest all the money in spectacular megaprojects (to funnel the money into private contractors) and none in the masses, you get an uneducated and unreliable workforce that is a not a good destination for FDI.

For this reason, their love for the western boot has been left unrequitted. They have had to consider the possibility of opening up to Chinese investment. Don’t know if it is serious or just meant as a threat to the US.

Yep essentially wants his people, that is even if he views them as his people, to be cheap labor for western firms as him and his cronies that own the factories line their pockets.

If Congress Party and CPI(M) win the election, then most of resources that India is producing should have been reserved for domestic purposes only. I’m tired of BJP shilling for the West. BJP has been ruining the rights of every Muslim citizen of India since they won the election.
