Has anyone else had a friend join their game as a gnome, dwarf, or halfling and constantly leave them behind because of the game’s pathing combined with the shorter jump distance?

I have a friend who joined as a Gnome Rouge and when I play solo with his character it seems like everytime the path requires a jump the ai pathing decides that he can’t make the jump (typically he can it just requires human input).

It’s one of those things where if you catch it early it’s not an issue. But getting into combat to realize 1/4 of your party is half a map away is annoying.

I run a dwarf fighter, and that character has the biggest jump of the whole group. Just chiming in to say that I feel it is more dependent on the strength stat.

Was going to reply the same about my dwarf paladin. Definitely strength used as the determining stat.

I’m having the same problem with Astarion and Shadowheart in Shar’s Gauntlet, I have to manually control them to make them do jumps they clearly can do but won’t on their own.

They’re not short so it’s probably stupid AI on low STR chars.

Yes, though it’s Gale and Shadowheart that get stuck most of the time. Especially annoying are jumps that just go down and I cast featherfall on everyone, so they all can definitely jump no strength required, but they still get stuck…

This is Gale for me. He inexplicably won’t make jumps that he very certainly can make. It takes me manually controlling him to get him to perform said jumps.

It’s because his strength is too low, not a pathing issue

I don’t think it’s because of his strength. We’re talking really short jumps that are well within his ability. For example, right at the start of the game there’s a small patch of burning ground that every other companion will jump over, but Gale just freezes. It’s a tiny jump, he just won’t go.

Read my post again. It clearly says that the party members not jumping are able to make the jump. Sometimes it’s a straight 3m jump and they just stand there.

Longstrider or Monk/Barbarian and problem solved.

Frankly given the Verticality of BG3, a low Str stat is a bigger handicap, and even that can be solved with an Elixir or gear.
