Yeah I got some great responses to this 😄 didn’t realize it was so popular here!

I might have to setup a smash gaming session sometime in the future

I say I like agile characters that don’t feel floaty, nobody bats an eye

I say I main ZSS, everyone loses their minds angry-place

My favorite is the 3ds one for sentimental reasons

I played the shit out of Smash Ultimate during the covid lockdowns and several years after that. Dedede main.

However, I ultimately quit playing entirely as I had one too many matches against the pay-to-win FP2 characters. I had to accept that the game is broken by design.

N64 I feel like I dominate pretty much any setting because most people my age are more familiar with melee or started as teens with an even later one, but I only had N64 until I was like 15. I fuck with Ness, because I perfected his lightning control and no casuals can deal with it. Probably better at Cap Falcon though. But I also can’t compete with anyone who takes it seriously. Perfectly in the middle where it’s too easy to be super fun with my casual friends and wayyyyy too hard with anyone actually good. I can pretty much only play with my siblings

I love Melee! I used to enter locals but the TOs in my region have only gotten less and less responsible regarding Covid safety over the years and I can’t afford to take that kind of risk. Sure miss it though, hopefully one day it’ll be accessible to me again. At least there’s Slippi netplay for when I feel like playing, and hopefully Brawlback sometime soon too. inshallah

I main Peach but lately I’ve been playing a lot of Luigi and Yoshi as well. Haven’t played enough P+ to really have a main there but I think Snake and Wario are my most played.

My friends and I all got too good with our mains compared to everyone else so we banned then. Everyone has to use random characters. Before that I mained Bowser Jr because I am a complete bastard.

Played a lot of the original, Melee and Brawl. Since I was a bit better at it than the people I was playing against (my brothers) I tended to rotate characters to keep it fun. I was mostly a Kirby main in the original super smash bros. I tended to prefer playing the heavier characters in Melee and Brawl as it was fun to get the kills with the really slow moves (like Bowser, King Dedede and Ganondorf).

If I felt like winding them up I would just play as Peach or Jigglypuff.

Inkling was the first character I could properly get into because I really struggled with the game’s basic movement (especially directional aerials and directional recoveries, still can’t figure those out). Inkling is very agile and moves easily and I feel like it’s easy to recover from mishaps. Also I like her moveset. I like the neutral B continuous ink jet, because if the opponent shields, they aren’t able to drop shield until I drop ink jet. This means I can keep wearing down the shield for a while, and then they have to be more cautious around me until it recharges. I can also use the down B ink bomb at the right angle to block certain recovery options, or try to hit the character while they’re off stage for extra damage.

My favourite item is beast ball. If you normally play no items, try turning on ONLY beast balls at low or medium frequency. It really adds some charm to the game and you can get some cool combos off it, whether by accident or on purpose.

Haven’t played in ages because online rubbed me the wrong way and the weekly club stopped getting attendees aside from me and this other guy that I now live with.

I always go in for Link. If I’m feeling spicy Young or Toon Link.

… but I’m also an old head and when I’m feeling serious there’s no substitute for Fox.
