To be honest as someone who works alongside these people occasionally: That’s a rather small security detail and I know of people with far far less money that have bigger security details.
20 people is not even a close protection detail, a chase car and an advance party plus medics, even less so if you consider that some people will be off duty, etc.
I mean, someone with a high capacity magazine could make short work of even 20 guys. And they aren’t gonna be able to do shit against any kind of explosives.
If one of them can be turned, and someone from Musk’s own security team goes Luigi, they’d be a hero and every single authoritarian across the globe would suddenly come to fear their own security squad.
I mean, someone with a high capacity magazine could make short work of even 20 guys.
If they were a wizard who could magically appear within firing range, sure. But by then you’re three layers deep into the Survivability Onion
A big part of personal security is to never be somewhere that a guy who wants to kill you will also be. That means keeping your schedule unpredictable, your route clear, your mode of transportation discrete or otherwise unassailable, and your physical presence obscured to the outside world.
Incidentally, in the last few years the FAA has made it much more difficult to track private aircraft.
If one of them can be turned
Strategically positioning all my guys
If he could just stop ruining sci-fi books that would be great.
Do you think he hires his bodyguards straight out of high school because he wants to bring in fresh brains to ‘disrupt’ the security space? Do you think he’s threatened if one of his bodyguards knows more about guns or can do more pushups than he can? Are yhey all just mindless yes men afraid to tell him ‘No’ if theres a security issue? Or does he value experience when it comes to his safety and can put his ego aside? Im actually curious about the dynamics given his track record with people working under him and his ludicrous hiring choices and process in the past.
Has he tried not being a human pile of feces?
Self-improvement is a poor man’s game.
If you have a dominance-oriented worldview, being less shitty than your clout allows you to get away with is preemptively surrendering. Imposing your full shittiness on the world is dominance.
The former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is said to have not changed his socks daily, seeing imposing his stench on underlings and those wishing to deal with him as a power flex.
Can fungal toenails be fatal? Because that guys deserves it if so.
Well the fungus can creep up your leg into your genitals, but for men this is much less painful, let alone deadly …
Who would dare question his nobility? Guy has so much money not a person around him is going to want to risk telling money bags himself he’s not the greatest person on earth.
The reason: they either depend on him for money or if they don’t then they know he’s emotionally unstable enough to turn this into a monetary problem with lawsuits or political fuckery.
Most people have seen how things go when they talk to their insane MAGA uncle about reality. Now just imagine if he had all day to fuck around, was constantly taking drugs and was unimaginably wealthy.
don’t forget the lack of accountability.

Nope
i assume the tax savings outweighs the cost of the bodyguards.
With each bodyguard he adds one more person has the opportunity to do a funny thing.
I wonder how competitive their salaries are? How gold is that goose?
Luigi, a job creator
We need to create a lot more jobs.
There are a lot of jobs for Luigi.
Not this one. Luigi loves Elon.
Allegefly. He was with me in san Francisco at the time of the shooting.
When we rise up hopefully they will join us. If not oh well we will bring extra body bags.
Luigi, Elon Musk fan
Who is going to protect him from his own security personnel?
Hopefully no one.
Hopefully he just vets them by asking grok “should I hire these guys”
Someone should send him a historical overview of Rome’s Praetorian Guard.
please don’t do that
send it to the bodyguards instead
I just want him to feel like he can never trust anyone. No matter how much he pays his bodyguards, it would only take someone else offering a few of them just a little bit more to get him out of the way.
Yeah, 20 is about the point at which you’re actually making it easier for a nut job with a gun to get access to you.
That’s why he had a human shield with him
Why would he need protection from them? When was the last time security personnel offed the person they were hired to protect?
1989, when Nicolae Ceasescu got killed by the Romanian Army officers he ran to for protection.
I always love to be reminded about that. It probably should have happened years earlier, but you take what you can get.
You’re right. Think about this. On January 6, 2021, Trump was illegally inciting an insurrection. He was surrounded by Secret Service agents who are only ostensibly paid to protect him.
Secret Service agents first oath is to defend the Constitution. So, they actually had a primary duty that day, not to protect Trump, but to arrest him.
They had all sworn a solemn oath that required them to take action against Trump, but nobody did anything of the sort. In fact, they famously broke the law by not retaining the information from their phones from that day.
JFK
Elon Musk, father of 14 children was basically never seen with his kids until a CEO was shot. Now he always travels with at least one portable meat shield.
Father of 14 known children. The down low is apparently he pays women one million dollars to bear his child and she has to sign a non-disclosure agreement that she won’t tell people it is his baby.
He is on record saying he wants to make a legion. That is around five thousand babies. He is one of the richest men in the world so this is within his reach. I am going to go throw up now.
A million dollars? It’s sad those women don’t even realize what a paltry sum of money that is. You become a billionaires concubine, and all you get is enough money to pay for a house in a low cost area, and food/medical bills/clothes/school/activities for like maybe five years at most, then you get to find a job and become a single mother that works full time. And you better be careful with your choice of housing, taxes are due every year
How crazy expensive is america? One million is like thirty years of minimum wage salary before taxes in Spain. I bet I could manage to retire at 45 with that kind of money.
This person is greatly exaggerating. I bought a house in central Illinois with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for $130k
Also, just having a million dollars is a big step up
Highly depends on area. $1 million is about 16 years of the median wage. It can be hard to survive on the median in some cities, but can be OK in rural or extremely economically depressed cities/towns. I don’t think federal minimum wage is enough to survive anywhere without assistance.
yep. and at his net worth, a million is nothing, it’s a rounding error
That’s not bad, I wish my rectum was fertile.
“Hey Kelvar, hop on daddy’s shoulders, time to go to work!”
Is the human shield kid a security professional too? By the time he’s 18 he will have 16 years of bodyguard experience, the perfect employee just like in those entry level job ads.
For legal purposes he’s a volunteer
For tax purposes, he’s office equipment.
For balance sheet purposes, he’s “Security Supplies (generic)”

Good. Stay lonely with the gang of dudes you have to pay to hang around you and whose only job is to keep people away from you.
I just went to see a movie with a big group of friends and now getting a burger, before tonight I work on a creative project with some other friends who all really respect and appreciate each other’s talents.
Something this fascist freak will never have.
assuming the freak is even capable of wanting such things or even understanding why someone would want it.
Aspirationally kill. What a fucking turd of a human Elon is.
The people who wanted to “aspirationally” kill him were also “homicidal”. This is valuable contextual information that tells the reader(/listener) additional things about the circumstances that they may not have realised before which gives them more insight into the situation so they can comprehend it better. Em dash.
It gives context from an unreliable source, placing emphasis on him as a victim rather than the cause of the asymmetric living conditions that his lifestyle causes.
The poor little meow meow.

“Foundation Security” 🙄
Probably related to the Foundation series from Isaac Asimov and Musk’s absurd idea that he is remotely a figure in some such space story.
iirc he’s named after some space serial character. I do wish he’d just fuck off to space.
I say next time Musk wants to get a permit to fly one of his Starship test flights, we require he be riding on the thing.
please. for all mankind. rid us of this musky odor.
You misunderstand him. When he said that space conquest would have casualties, he was thinking about NPCs. He’s the Player1 in this universe. Contrary to all of us, he’s not expandable: the game would instantly ends.
I’m willing to take that risk.
Well, seems the game is almost over.
Thats why he names his children like the way he does
lol
he has named his children: slider, sidarael, techno mechanius musk, AE,etc.
keta, mine, horse tranq, cybershit
He’s named after a character called The Elon from Werner Von Braun’s sci-fi book called The Mars Project
Asimov has too much empathy for Elmo
He probably identifies with The Mule.
Looks like his ketamine dealer has good stuff these days
I mean… There is a non-zero chance he might get Luigied…
man i can only dream
Poor term to use, since Luigi is an Elon fanboy.
So dragon slayer is a job now?
In the olden times, it was a big point of pride of American politics that a lot of people didn’t want to kill the leaders. It was sort of assumed that in feudal style European politics, of course the common people kind of wanted to kill you, because you were threatening their safety and taking their stuff. In America, the way we did things was to earn the respect of the people you governed. The people actually wanted this person to be in charge. Why would I shoot that guy? That’s who we picked, we like him.
Of course there are some caveats (slavery large among them). The reality never matched up to the ideal. But we’re going back to where even the approximation of consent of the governed that we used to have, isn’t assumed anymore. Fuckin bullshit

Same. I can talk about combining Socialism, UBI, with a dash of heavily regulated capitalism that has wealth caps, and downvoters crawl out of the woodwork.
Anyhow, toss me a link to one of your most detailed posts about this attention economy thing? I can’t promise to like it, but I should see if there are bits that would fit into the “Universal Ranked Income” system that I have been tinkering with.

My solution is to fix what we have. Democracy sucks, but it’s the best there is.
Fix it how? FIX IT HOW?

I’m not expert, but i’d start with ranked choice voting, campaign donations must come from a natural person and not a company, PAC, or any other organization, and term limits.
Bring back the Fair doctrine or whatever it’s called and tax the shit out of the wealthy and super wealthy.
Oh yeah, universal healthcare for all. Bring back regulating major industries and start basic income.
