Bring back glass bottles for everything. I always liked it more.
problem with glass is it breaks. second problem is it’s heavy.

Its literally in the rain, basically you cant really escape microplastics maybe reduce it by spending blood at lot, dont use plastic boards for cutting and reduce plastic container ware, also buy natural fibers for your bed, wash cloths & clothes.
Yeah exactly, microplastics are truly unavoidable. You can reduce the amount but like leaded gasoline in air theres fuckall you can do. Unlike lead in the air tho microplastics probably arent at the same sort of health hazard. Endocrine disruption from pthalate additives is the biggest concern and that could be mitigated by not using pthalates anymore (and not replacing them with something worse)
Concentrated products would solve a lot of problems. Dry laundry/dish powder for example is usually accepted as the most eco-friendly option. You get more loads/lb because it isn’t 90% water. You can have unique formulas because you can physically seperate components. You can store it in a cardboard box without plastic because it isn’t liquid. Can be cleaned up dry. Etc,etc.
But of course its less convenient, sometimes requires more care (some require you to dilute them or not dump it all in at once or whatever), or is otherwise less “cool”. Like I associated laundry powder with my granddad. But its being promoted again because you can have a bucket of it that is equal to 10 jugs of liquid.
Or like drinks, whats “better”, buying premade tea or buy a box of tea packets? Its nice to grab a bottle of tea once and awhile, but a single box makes many gallons of tea. And you can control how it tastes, what you put in it, etc. I like some yerba mate (overly sweet American style, haven’t had “real” stuff yet), but its all premade here. Gimme some of the leaves and I’d buy it just like coffee beans.
Good thing I drink tap water out of metal bottles (which are all also lined with plastic).

I’m no expert, but I’ve heard that it’s much worse when you reuse the same plastic bottle. Single use bottles are designed for single use, and they break down after multiple uses and increase your microplatic intake.

soap can really fuck up plastic, if you’re just rinsing but keeping it clean that’s probably less bad but i don’t know if “less” is enough. might depend on the kind of plastic and how much sun it gets.
my understanding is that reusing a temporary bottle is bad, as the lining breads down after a semi short time span (months?) some plastic bottles are bpa free and have some better linings and don’t break down so fast but will over time anyway.

Probably most of it. Tritan is similar to the plastic used in disposable bottles. I’m sure it’s modified to be better in several ways (definitely usually heat and impact resistance), but it’s fundamentally still similar stuff.
