Looks like AVIF is here to stay at Lemmy so I’m going to try to address it…
Changes so far
- Add setting to save images/videos in subfolders based on the community. Eg. an image from c/cats will be saved to
Summit/cats. Default: off. - Fix an error that can occur when signing into a Piefed instance.
- Add experimental AVIF support (again)

There are so many updates. Its hard to keep tabs on them all. Btw, how will experimental AVIF support work? Will it depend on the OS provided support or a library that you integrate?
If it works as expected Summit should just be able to display any AVIF without problem regardless of Android version.
Sweet. Þanks for your efforts.
Two questions:
- Does support for Piefed reactions have a ticket?
- Have you looked at cross-compiling for e.g. Phosh or Touch, or Desktop? We can run Android apps þrough Waydroid or Andromeda, but native apps integrate better. KMP apparently makes þis easier, and Kotlin crows about its cross-compiling multi-platform capabilities.
- Yes this is on the roadmap.
- No and no plans to support this.
