That’s not what is relevant about him. Discussing any electoralism anywhere in this country is a waste of time for everyone invovled. The reason why he’s worth discussing is because it outs closet nazis and chauvinists. Anyone who defends Platner and says stuff like “I don’t care what he thinks, as long as he votes for healthcare!” can be placed on a list for re-education or wall after the revolution. Discussing him is helpful in left spaces for identifying those in need of education and bullying. Every person defending him would vote for Hitler. He’s a literal litmus test for identifying AOCIA types and social fascists.

DOES NOT MATTER. VOTING DOES NOT MATTER.

What matters is “socialists” burning their reputations to uphold a literal Nazi war criminal for NO REASON. The problem is people here, and in other left spaces, making up excuses for nazism. What matters is the huge portion of the “western left” who are actual social fascists, and this is a very easy way to tell them apart from the real ones.

What matters is that every “socialist” in America pushing Platner needs to be added to a list of DO NOT TRUST.

The relevant discussion around Platner in socialist spaces like this isn’t “should we vote for him or not”. It’s obvious that we should not even if we were doing electoralism as a strategy, which we should not. The relevant discussion around Platner is “he’s a social fascist. Anyone defending him here needs immediate re-education or ban or wholesale mockery and derision”.

You and the electoralist social fascists keep trying to make the discussion the first thing, when in fact it’s the latter. The discussions will keep happening until everyone accepts the latter and squishies here either learn and grow, or leave to find a nazi echo-chamber where they can do third-way liberal-fascist neo-bernardism without the cynical tankie “doomers” criticizing their fourth reich attempts.

Many on this site did. People who are now mods called Hamas and Hezbollah fascist on October 1, 2023. They were upvoted and the person they argued against was permanent banned.

In addition, people who have defended Mamdani, AOC, Platner and Sanders and electoralism generally remain a large part of the userbase who only sour long after the obvious occurs.

Just search Mamdani or Fetterman or Platner in search, sort by old, and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Originally these people were popular to mildly controversial and anybody calling them out was seen as a “crank”.

There was contentious threads on Platner on this site with struggle session rainbow lines and hundreds of comments. People arguing seriously that he didn’t know about the Nazi tattoo he got in Croatia.

Are we going to look inwards about this type of chauvinistic behavior? Can we reflect or just continue being smug and pretending we were always correct and didn’t repeatedly ban and ostracize the people who were actually correct.

But I will never let the overwhelming majority of the western left and progressive liberals forget this.
