American punk was a lot more personal angst and a lot less political. Only America could take punk rock and produce youth of today in less than 10 years. There were exceptions, but they were few and a lot formed before hardcore became a thing. There was the Peace Punk scene in so cal and a few bands spread around aside. But it was mostly tuff dudes and teenagers mad at like…society
