First of all what was proven through this scottish example is great. Apart from that I will try to use this article as a conversation starter about circular economy.

Up until recently, last year or smth, I considered circular economy to be a sort of greenwashing mostly. Certainly not because of the people active in it. I am pretty sure their heart is in the right place. The main problems I found in them were related to 2 factors: (1) their analysis, and (2) how capitalists capitalized on their good faith, because they are not required to have any actual transparency.

Super briefly and to my understanding, circular economy sees the capitalist economic model as linear: take, make, dispose. In contrast they propose a circular model: make, use, recycle. Their analysis is describing the mode of production & consumption t some extend. It does not take into account one of the main, elements of the capitalist economy which is circular, not linear: all profits from one business should be invested back to another business for economic growth to continue, nonstop.

Currently, I’m on the fence. It seems to me that that there are so many things that need to be done worldwide on so many levels, in order to minimize the damage that has taken place (yes, I put t that vaguely) - that even circular economy is needed? In the same time, I dunno.

And I would totally like to hear from anyone who is interested in talking about this.

The analysis found a total 99.9% material recovery – calculating that 79.5% of the wind farm’s components were recycled and 20.4% were reused or retained as spare parts, keeping nearly all material out of landfills.

It also confirmed that 100% of the recycling and component retention took place within the UK, supporting domestic green jobs and at least 10 supply chain companies.

That’s a lot better than I would have expected
