What does “hose” mean in this context? I only know that it means trousers in German.

Apparently it’s not what’s used here, but in case you’re interested, hose in English usually means a flexible, usually rubber, tube that water runs through, often used for things like watering plants or fighting fires. It’s also used to refer to a kind of historical trousers, or short for pantyhose to refer to a kind of (predominantly women’s) stocking.
