    You triggered my rant! The term universe means all-encompassing. Therefore if such a structure called ‘multiverse’ were to exist, it would, by definition, be a substructure of our universe and not multiple universes. The term ‘multiverse’ is an oxymoron, with emphasis on -moron.

      It’s a rant of!

      The meaning of words change. For example, ‘atom’ means undivisible which was thought to be the case when the term was coined. Since then we’ve discovered that the atom is in fact divisible. In the same way, when the term ‘universe’ was first introduced, it was thought of to be all-encompassing. Now, a multiverse hasn’t been proven, and might very well be unprovable, but if it ever happens, the term will continue to be used, despite being a linguistic oxymoron. Just like the atom.

        How do these multiverses work? Sliders rules, Loki rules, Everything Everywhere All At Once rules? We might just call it a timeline, or a frequency, or something based on how one detects or travels between them.

          Never heard of those rules. Mind giving an explanation?

          Personally in my story telling, I like to interpret them like computer virtual machines. An universe handles its own sub universes.

          Traveling between them can only be done up or down. Cannot go to siblings universes directly. And to do it, you need to wrap the part of the fabric of reality that makes you into a translation layer for the target universe. Prevents any star Trek transporter ethical issues
