I played Xenoblade Chronicles and had heard the system of Xenoblade 2 is lot more complicated.
the in-game tutorials suck. they are misleading, and even the good ones you can’t see again in the menus later on. i think
chuggaaconroy’s video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8P7KhFSA2w) is probably a decent place to get situated. enel’s videos are also outstanding for mechanics but he does have some party member spoilers in them, and most are focused on postgame anyways.Exactly. Also the combat system is crazy fun once you understand how to get it going
after a bit of frustration, when it first clicked on my first playthrough i was like “omg i have to tell everyone this game is awesome the battle system is genius”
So true
Are the spoilers not too huge like revealing character deaths or betrayals?
they’re not that bad, definitely not as bad as, say, getting spoiled on the seventh party member in xc1, but the xenoblade community has been very vigilant about avoiding spoilers so i’d like to keep that tradition up here :)
the enel video i would recommend to a newcomer is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEksqxaML58. i like it a lot better than the chugga video personally actually as far as explaining combat goes.
and i just rewatched both of these videos since it had been a hot minute. the only thing i would add is that you must view your blade’s affinity chart in order to unlock nodes on the chart. if you see the notification that you completed the requirements, but don’t go back and view the affinity chart, that node will remain locked and no progress will be made on any nodes following it.
I’ll be sure to watch out for blade’s affinity chart. Appreciate the help on finding the video guide for me.
I would personally watch a no spoilers tutorial on YT as you go. Also as a heads up. The robot is busted as fuck. Op even. Use the robot. Upgrade the robot. Look up YT tutorials on how to upgrade the robot if necessary. Playing a mini game is required to do this and you WILL spend hours of your life on the same mini game over and over. Trust me. The robot is that good.
except once you get to ng+. then you only need to play the minigame for one affinity node, but everything else can be bought from the new vendors using unused bonus exp.
First of all, just enjoy the fantastic ride. There are a million different systems and mechanics, which eventually might click. Another poster already linked a great combat video. After a few hours in that’s a great suggestion but until then make sure to give your party deserts. The thing that took me long to grasp was the fact that going back to prior zones is a must, even if it feels that the story drives you further.
