2 named people got fired, add “several” lower level officials, and one retiree had a heart attack = “millions purged”
Given the opacity of the Chinese system, it is impossible to confirm these accounts… But the sensational nature of the claims themselves make clear the feverish paranoia permeating Beijing.
The fact my cat is asking for more salami means I must consider the possibility I didn’t give him any salami earlier.
One senior Chinese finance official who speaks fluent English and is a regular fixture on the international conference circuit told POLITICO by email that he could no longer attend an upcoming event outside China and was unable to speak on the phone.
He joins dozens of senior finance officials who have been removed in recent months, often after being accused of corruption.
An associate of this official said he was currently being investigated for being “too close to America” and “possibly a spy.”
Government official who regularly leaks information facing wild accusations of leaking information.
This article reads like one of our shitposts where we try to spin every detail as evil haha. It’s got everything: dramatic narration, anonymous informants, baseless speculation, scare quotes, and the creative abuse of a thesaurus that would make Parenti laugh.
Westerners are the most propagandized people in Earth

Hollyshit. This is quite literally the same response you get from any affluent person who is under investigation, regardless of nation. In the US it’s a trope at this point for people under active investigation when reached out to by media to respond that they cannot talk about it, especially over the phone and to journalists who are guaranteed to be keeping a record of the conversation. Media are filled with jackels and anyone with any sense of self preservation will refuse to talk with them, especially directly and not through legal counsel.
that he could no longer attend an upcoming event outside China
Yeah! No shit?! It’s called being flagged as a “flight risk” due to having the financial means and connections to leave the country where you have been accused of commiting a serious crime. It’s exactly the same in most countries, including the US. Hell, in the US they restrict your movement even within the national borders (can’t leave specific state) until your name has either been cleared or you are convicted.
It’s like when people lay low after being caught up in a scandal, they’re actually being disappeared by the government
West just mad they can’t find the Chinese Gorbachev.
They can’t find him because Chinese Gorbachev already got purged. And all i can say about that is:
Where is this from?
An interview Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus gave to some BBC propagandist hack a while back. The scumbag was posing all kind of loaded questions and trying to make him look like a dictator and he was having absolutely none of it:
Also, the word they translated as ‘massacre’ was actually also ‘liquidate’, which obviously has a different meaning when talking about organizations, but then you can’t expect journalistic or moral integrity from the BBC.
(But also I fully support massacring all the scum they’ve been financing)
yet another case of “if they were even a fraction as cool as the right says they are”
Honestly surprised they didn’t just replace his subtitles with some random villain speech from a movie where he cackles about eating babies or something. The Brits would’ve believed it anyway.
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Lmao, legit.
How to edit jargon to make an article suitable for a Western audience:
Change “term” to “reign”
Change “administration” to “regime”
Change “ad campaign” to “propaganda”
And so on.
Change “arresting people for corruption” to “purges” as well.
change “immigrants” to “expats”
A government prosecuting corrupt officials 😳 impossible
dubious use of the word “purge” to make the readers think of execution
the US Congress just purged a minority from the House, acting unilaterally to remove a democratically elected representative against the will of the people
the US is basically a Communist now
sweaty
– Some lib brain worms probably
Xi goes full Stalin
These wimps say it like it’s a bad thing.
Damn this purge thing seems to work, can we get some of that over here with our officials?
Okay Jack, we’ll purge everyone to the left of Hitler.
Step 1: Take any liberal attempt at historical analysis
Step 2: Replace every surname in it with “God” or another deity
Step 3: Promulgate the result to emotionally vulnerable people on Sundays
Step 4: Profit
The West’s anger and panic are palpable… more evidence that Xi is doing a banger of a job eradicating corruption and western spies.
As a sign of accountability in Beijing’s top ranks, foreign policy and defense officials are being replaced by Xi for poorly representing the party’s goals.
Oh no! Heaven forbid you have an institution that works!
There’s almost 100 million party members 1% of them getting sacked doesn’t seem like a big deal.
come on xi, do it, purge all the libs
Remember kids. Purging corruption is only bad when the “(((N’s)))” do it.
And no. I am referring to western hypocrisy when covering anti-corruption campaigns in the West and in the Global South, this should not even be a disclaimer.
