Oof yeah. It took me a long time to accept that my financial struggles aren’t part of a moral failing on my part. In my case, parents were actually good, but growing up in a region where the “protestant work ethic” was emphasized was hell on the self esteem. There’s so much casual classism out there as well, trying to make people like me feel like “trash.” It’s extremely fucked up.
