If I have my phone unlocked and the app open it seems to work on my computer but after a while it just seems to stop working completely.

Maybe check if your phone is stopping apps that are in the background. If I’m not mistaken it’s an Android feature and most of the time you can disable it in settings per app. On my Huawei phone it’s Settings > Apps > the app > power usage > launch settings.

Check that your phone is not killing the background process.

A lot of manufacturers love to kill background apps to make your battery run for longer.

If you haven’t already you should check how to disable the battery optimization for KDEConnect. Unfortunately each manufacturer has its own settings and ways to do it, so I can’t offer more specific help, if this is the problem.

EDIT: It seems a lot of people already had answered making this point, for some reason the comments had not loaded when I initially replied 🤷‍♂️ Hope you’ll solve this! Cheers!

Been working quite reliably for me. Just gotta make sure it’s battery usage is set to “Unrestricted” in the power settings for the app, and also disable every smart battery management options in the phone’s settings.

As manufacturers try harder and harder to make the battery last longer/offset the drain caused by all the bloatware they ship with it, lots of phones will aggressively stop any apps running in the background that you haven’t interacted with in a while.

Right now my phone says KDE Connect has been active for 104 hours, which is about how long it’s been since the last reboot. I’ve seen it go in the 200s.

I’m having the same experience. Hasn’t been reliable since a long time now. Used to work like a charm, really reliable. Nowadays not most of the time. Don’t know what changed, there are too many variables.

I can’t say half the time, no. But it does drop connection often enough to be noticeable for me
