I don’t think it would have been unreasonable to ask if someone who had German citizenship, and who had served in the German army (even if there was universal conscription), was pro- or anti-Nazi back in the 1940s, though.
One can’t choose where they were born (if they were born in, or their families immigrated to Israel while they were a child). But by all means, I don’t think anyone, after serving as part of the occupation force there, should go unquestioned. It’s a simple question- do they condemn genocide? Do they condemn the ongoing war crimes? Do they recognize the equal human dignity and rights of the Palestinians?
Zionists and the west in general use this tactic- “do you condemn Hamas?” “do you condemn Putin?” “do you condemn the seeseepee?” while heaping on their slander and lies. But the reverse is what should actually hold true, and I hope will hold true in the future that is to come- the real criminals, the real perpetrators, must be held to task for their crimes, and those who have supported them through their actions (such as military service) and their politics prior must confront these uncomfortable questions, both to answer to themselves, and to answer to their victims. By all means, they should all face these questions, each and every one of them, especially in this case of blatant genocide.
